At present, there are many works on the influences of partially hydrolyzed polyacrylamide (HPAM) and surfactant on the stability and treatment of O/W emulsion produced by surfactant-polymer (SP) flooding. However, there are few related reports on the effects of HPAM and surfactant on the demulsification of W/O crude oil emulsion produced by SP flooding. Especially, there is no report on the effect of the surfactant type. In this paper, sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), octylphenol polyoxyethylene ether (OP-10), and alkyl C16-18 hydroxypropyl sulfobetaine (HSB1618) were selected as representatives of the anionic surfactant, nonionic surfactant, and zwitterionic surfactant, respectively. Demulsification experiments and interface behavior experiments were conducted to investigate their influences on the demulsification performance of a demulsifier D1. The results showed that the order of the negative effect of the surfactant type on dehydration speed and the dehydration rate of D1 was HPAM + OP-10 > HPAM + HSB1618 > HPAM + SDS. There is no difference in the effect of three surfactants on the conformation adjustment of D1 at the W/O interface, but the properties of the composite W/O interface formed by them and D1 were different. The coalescence time was longest when there were HPAM and OP-10 in water, while the lg( '/ ')/lg ' was the smallest, which led to the most difficult demulsification of W/O emulsion. This work can guide surfactant selection during SP flooding from the perspective of produced fluid treatment.

Several micro- and nanoplastic particle (MNP) traits, like polymer type, size, and shape, have been shown to influence MNP toxicity. However, the direction and strength of these moderating effects are often unclear, and generalizations from single studies are challenging to establish. Meta-analyses increase generalizability and derive more accurate and precise effect size estimates by combining measurements from published studies.

Surfactant is usually considered the key component to form microemulsion. surfactant-based microemulsion (SBME) can also be called traditional microemulsion. It has a wide range of applications.

Objectives: Juvenile dermatomyositis (JDM) is a heterogeneous autoimmune condition needing targeted treatment approaches and improved understanding of molecular mechanisms driving clinical phenotypes. We utilised exploratory proteomics from a longitudinal North American cohort of patients with new-onset JDM to identify biological pathways at disease onset and follow-up, tissue-specific disease activity, and myositis-specific autoantibody (MSA) status.
Methods: We measured 3072 plasma proteins (Olink panel) in 56 patients with JDM within 12 weeks of starting treatment (from the Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance Registry and 3 additional sites) and 8 paediatric controls.

Hypothesis: The surface free energy (γ) and solubility (δ) parameters are two important characteristic parameters describing physicochemical properties of substances, but knowledge about the characteristic parameters (γ and δ) of surfactants is still lacking. Possible relationships of the characteristic parameters of surfactants with their head group types and alkyl chain lengths as well as with the surface tension (σ) of their aqueous solutions are worth exploring.
Methods: Solid surfactants including 10 anionic and 14 cationic ones were chosen.
The ATP-binding cassette subfamily A member 3 (ABCA3) protein on the limiting membrane of lamellar bodies in alveolar type 2 (AT2) cells transports phospholipids required for pulmonary surfactant assembly. ABCA3 deficiency results from biallelic pathogenic variants in and causes progressive neonatal respiratory failure or childhood interstitial lung disease (chILD). Supportive/compassionate care or lung transplantation are the only current definitive treatments for ABCA3 deficiency and progressive respiratory failure.
