Generalized arterial calcification of infancy (GACI) is a rare genetic condition with varied clinical presentation. Consequently, diagnosis is frequently delayed or missed. GACI has a poor prognosis, with more than half of patients dying before the age of 6 months. Early diagnosis and treatment with bisphosphonates have been shown to improve survival in these patients. This is a case report of a newborn with respiratory distress who was initially diagnosed with coarctation of the aorta at echocardiography. Further imaging with CT revealed the aortic narrowing to be associated with GACI. Background: Despite promising preclinical results, remote limb ischemic postconditioning efficacy in human stroke treatment remains unclear, with mixed clinical trial outcomes. A potential reason for translational difficulties could be differences in circadian rhythms between nocturnal rodent models and diurnal humans.
Methods: Male C57BL/6J mice were subjected to transient focal cerebral ischemia and then exposed to remote postconditioning during their active or inactive phase and euthanized at 24 hours and 3 days.

Background: Atherosclerosis is a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by the accumulation of lipid-laden foam cells and plaques within the arterial wall. Dysfunctional vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs), fibroblasts, endothelial cells, and macrophages contribute to disease progression. Here, we report that macrophage-specific expression of epsins, highly conserved endocytic adaptor proteins involved in clathrin-mediated endocytosis, accelerates atherosclerosis in Western diet-fed mice.

Objectives: The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of artificial intelligence-assisted segmentation methods in detecting carotid artery calcification (CAC) in panoramic radiographs and to compare the performance of different YOLO models: YOLOv5x-seg, YOLOv8x-seg, and YOLOv11x-seg. Additionally, the study aims to investigate the association between patient gender and the presence of CAC, as part of a broader epidemiological analysis.
Methods: In this study, 30,883 panoramic radiographs were scanned.

Background: There is no consensus for using statins for primary prevention of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and all-cause mortality in adults with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM), because no randomized controlled trial has exclusively investigated statins in this population.
Objectives: In this study, the authors sought to evaluate the long-term risks and benefits of statins for primary prevention in adults with T1DM.
Methods: We performed a sequential target trial emulation comparing statin initiation vs noninitiation using UK primary care data from the IQVIA Medical Research Data database.
