Background: In coal quality analysis, spectroscopic techniques such as near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) and X-ray fluorescence (XRF) offer rapid and non-destructive measurements, but differences between instruments and coal types may lead to the failure of established models. Given the complexity of coal, it is important to systematically evaluate the applicability of traditional calibration transfer methods, such as the Slope/Bias (S/B) method and Piecewise Direct Standardization (PDS). Meanwhile, machine learning algorithm such as Domain-Adversarial Neural Networks (DANN), have shown great potential in addressing data distribution differences between source and target domains, offering new possibilities for calibration transfer.

Hydrazono-[1,3,4]-thiadiazoles have a prominent position among the heterocyclic compounds due to their broadening aspects of biological activities. In the current study, a neoteric series of [1,3,4]-thiadiazoles tethered to alkoxyaryl hydrazone has been formulated via the treatment of methyl 2-[3-(pentyloxy)-benzylidene]-hydrazine-1-carbodithioate and hydrazonoyl chlorides in ethanolic solution under thermal conditions. DABCO, as an environmentally nontoxic material, was utilized as a superior basic catalyst for the latter reaction.

A novel fluorescent and colorimetric probe (L3), based on 2,6-pyridinedicarbohydrazide, was rationally designed and synthesized for the highly selective and reversible detection of Cu²⁺ ions. The structural and optical properties of the probe were comprehensively characterized by FT-IR, ¹H NMR, UV-Vis spectroscopy, fluorescence analysis, ESI⁺-MS, and elemental analysis. The probe L3 displayed a high selectivity, high sensitivity and quick response to Cu ions in the presence of other competing cations including Ba, K, Pb, Hg, Al, Zn, Fe, Tl, Mg, Ni, Nd, Fe, Ag, Ca, Cs, Co, Cd, Sr, and Mn ions).

CdMnTe (CMT) is a promising magneto-optical (MO) material for the visible to near-infrared region with a tunable bandgap via manganese (Mn) doping. Although CMT has been extensively studied, the solid solubility limit of Mn in CdTe (cadmium telluride) remains unclear, and the growth of high-Mn-content single crystals has not yet been reported in detail. In this work, the Mn solubility limit in CdTe was determined to be = 0.
