Lower extremity artery disease affects more than 230 million people worldwide, leading to significant cardiovascular and limb-related complications. Recent advancements in endovascular treatment, driven by technological innovations and increasing patient prevalence due to aging populations and lifestyle diseases, has contributed to a growing demand for endovascular treatment. In Japan, the number of endovascular treatment procedures has increased specifically among cardiologists, whereas the involvement of interventional radiology physicians remains limited.

Background: This study aims to investigate the impact of high-sodium diet (HSD) on the global burden of aortic aneurysm (AA), analyze its epidemiological trends across different regions, sexes, and age groups, and project future trends.
Methods: Data were obtained from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2021 (GBD 2021) to assess the disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) and death cases of AA attributable to HSD (AA-HSD) from 1990 to 2021. A decomposition analysis was conducted to quantify the contributions of population growth, aging, and epidemiological changes to the disease burden.

In 2022, cases of Monkeypox virus (MPXV) in California contained a mutation in the TNF receptor gene (GR2G) that rendered the virus undetectable using a widely adopted public health diagnostic qPCR assay. This underscored the need for a dual-target PCR approach and prompted validation of a second target by the BCCDC Public Health Laboratory. In addition to the GR2G target validated in the original qPCR assay (and duplexed with the endogenous target human β-globin (HBG)), GP113 (OPG128) was identified and validated using both clinical samples and MPXV DNA controls.

Nanomedicine has shown remarkable promise in advancing tumor imaging and therapy through its ability to achieve targeted delivery, precision imaging, and therapeutic efficacy. However, translating these preclinical successes into clinical practice remains fraught with challenges, including inconsistent tumor targeting, off-target organ accumulation, and a lack of comprehensive understanding of in vivo behavior of nanomedicines. In this perspective, the current state of nanomedicine research is critically analyzed, emphasizing the translational bottlenecks and offering a forward-looking view on potential solutions.
