Excessive alcohol use causes a great deal of harm and negative health outcomes. Corticotrophin releasing factor (CRF), a stress-related neuropeptide, has been implicated in binge ethanol intake and ethanol dependence in rodents. CRF containing neurons in the bed nucleus of the stria terminalis (BNST) can influence ethanol consumption.

Background: Disentangling preschool wheezing heterogeneity in terms of clinical traits, temporal patterns, and collective healthcare burden is critical for precise and effective interventions.
Objective: We aimed to collectively define contributions and distinct characteristics of respiratory phenotypes based on longitudinal wheeze and atopic sensitization patterns in the first 5 years of life.
Methods: Group-based trajectory analysis was performed in the CHILD Cohort study to identify distinct wheeze and allergic sensitization trajectories.

Agriculture has played a pivotal role in shaping European mountain biodiversity. Traditional practices, characterized by low intensity and crop mosaics, have historically created complex, heterogeneous landscapes that supported a high biodiversity level. Agricultural intensification has turned these traditional crop systems into artificial habitats, leading to increased field sizes, habitat fragmentation, and decrease of habitat heterogeneity, contributing to the current farmland biodiversity crisis.

Objectives: This study aimed to disentangle the independent effects of aging and cumulative antiretroviral therapy (ART) duration on polypharmacy in people with HIV. While successful ART has led to an aging population with HIV, polypharmacy may stem from both aging and ART's cumulaftive toxicity. Quantitative evidence separating these effects is scarce, particularly in Japan.

When compared to nature sounds, exposure to mechanical sounds evokes higher levels of perceptual and physiological arousal, prompting the recruitment of attentional and physiological resources to elicit adaptive responses. However, it is unclear whether these attributes are solely related to the sound intensity of mechanical sounds, since in most real-world scenarios, mechanical sounds are present at high intensities, or if other acoustic or semantic factors are also at play. We measured the Skin Conductance Response (SCR), reflecting sympathetic nervous system (SNS) activity as well as the pleasantness and eventfulness of the soundscape across two passive and active listening tasks in (N = 25; 14 females, 11 males) healthy subjects.
