Two new salts of a mononuclear tripodal Fe(II) complex were prepared, using ClO and Cl. The ClO sample (1) remained HS at low temperatures, similar to the previously reported BF analogue. Crystallising with the Cl anion (2) led to a markedly different crystal packing arrangement, and engendered SCO activity. This has been correlated to the lower crystal packing density in 2 and the coordination complex conformational differences arising due to the packing motifs of 1 and 2. Further, solvent ordering effects have been proposed to facilitate spin transition behaviour in 2.

Polydrug abuse is the persistent self-administration of more than one reinforcing drug. The present study provided rhesus monkeys concurrent access to two drugs: 8% alcohol and solutions of either cocaine or methadone. The liquids were available under concurrent nonindependent fixed-ratio (FR) schedules across increasing and then decreasing ratio sizes.

Nifurtimox (NFX) is a chiral drug used for the treatment of Chagas Disease. Little attention has been paid to the enantioselective properties of chiral drugs used for neglected tropical diseases, highlighting the need for further studies in this area. In this work, the enantioselective properties of NFX were carefully investigated by HPLC using different chiral stationary phases (CSPs) and chromatographic modes.

A thermostable paraoxonase (S3wahi-PON) from sp. strain S3wahi was recently characterised and shown to possess stability across a broad temperature range. This study expands upon the initial biochemical characterisation of S3wahi-PON by investigating the structural determinants and conformational adaptability that contribute to its thermostability, using an integrated approach that combines biophysical techniques and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations across a temperature range of 10 °C to 90 °C.

An unprecedented recyclable system of copper-catalyzed C-C/N coupling of isatins and DMSO without any oxidant and acidic/basic additive has been unlocked. The -isatins occur tandem -methylation and C5-methylthiomethylation in order, while -substituted isatins proceed C5-methylthiomethylation only. DMSO serves as Me and MeSCH sources as well as the solvent.

The interfacial mutual solubility can result in a random distribution of donor and acceptor materials during the spin-coating step in the fabrication of planar heterojunction (PHJ) near-infrared (NIR) organic phototransistors. In this case, deep trap states are induced by acceptors, accelerating electron-hole recombination, ultimately impairing the photoresponsivity of the phototransistor. To solve this issue, a controllable mutual dissolution layer (formed by co-solvent treatment) combined with a diffusion interface layer (formed by the solvent vapor annealing (SVA) method) was introduced to achieve a more ordered arrangement of donors and acceptors, thereby enhancing the electrical performance of PHJ-based NIR phototransistors.
