Article Abstract

Synthesis, characterization, electronic structure, and redox reactions of a mononuclear {FeNO} complex with a very high N-O stretching frequency in solution are presented. Nitrosylation of [(L)Fe(DMF)] () (L = tris((1-methyl-4,5-diphenyl-1H-imidazol-2-yl)methyl)amine) produced a five-coordinate {FeNO} complex, [(L)Fe(NO)] (). While complex could accommodate an additional water molecule to generate a six-coordinate {FeNO} complex, [(L)Fe(NO)(HO)] (), the coordinated HO in dissociates to generate in solution. The molecular structure of features a nearly linear Fe-N-O unit with an Fe-N distance of 1.744(4) Å, N-O distance of 1.162(5) Å, and

Chronic airway inflammation with variable airflow obstruction is clinical asthma, and it arises from distinct molecular and pathological mechanisms called endotypes. Biomarkers allow for precise endotype characterization and have been used in clinical trials to design, monitor, and evaluate outcomes for asthma biologic therapies. This review will highlight the central and evolving role of biomarkers for past, present, and future asthma, with a focus on regulatory-approved biologic therapies and emerging biomarkers.

A diiron(II) compound, [Fe(HPTP)(NCS)(DMF)] (), mediated the direct reduction of nitrite (NO) to nitric oxide (NO) in 100% yield and allowed the generation of a mononitrosyl diiron(II) compound, [Fe(HPTP)(NCS)(NO)] (). Compound is a rare [Fe{FeNO}] species, which featured Fe-N and N-O distances of 1.768(4) Å and 1.

A new pentadentate-fluorinated NS(thiolate) ligand was synthesized. Reaction with Fe(BF)·6HO gives a new thioether complex, [Fe(CHCN)(N3PySEtCN)][BF] (), and on-metal deprotection gives the thiolate complex, [Fe(CHCN)(N3PyS)][BF] (). Reaction of with NO forms a low-spin ground state ( = 1/2) {FeNO} complex ().

Purpose: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is characterised by intermittent hypoxia and sleep fragmentation, both of which can impair cognition. This study aimed to investigate the association between fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO), a non-invasive marker of airway inflammation, and memory performance in patients with OSA.

Methods: A total of 102 participants were enrolled: 62 with moderate or severe OSA (apnea-hypopnea index, AHI≥15) and 40 with snoring or mild OSA (AHI <15).

With the advent of the Haber-Bosch process over a century ago, the world's population experienced tremendous growth due to the million tons of fixed nitrogen used in fertilizer each year. However, the majority of the fixed nitrogen is metabolized to various nitrogen oxyanions by soil organisms that are lost to waterways, leading to eutrophication and hypoxia. Therefore, there is a need to convert the anthropogenic nitrogen content to more useful forms.
