The structure and the chemical composition of individual layers as well as of interfaces belonging to the two heterostructures M1 (BaFeO/YbFeO/YSZ) and M2 (YbFeO/BaFeO/YSZ) grown by pulsed laser deposition on yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) substrates are deeply characterized by using a combination of methods such as high-resolution X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and atomic-resolution scanning TEM with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. The temperature-dependent magnetic properties demonstrate two distinct heterostructures with different coercivity, anisotropy fields, and first anisotropy constants, which are related to the defect concentrations within the individual layers and to the degree of intermixing at the interface. The heterostructure with the stacking order BaFeO/YbFeO, i.e., M1, exhibits a distinctive interface without any chemical intermixture, while an Fe-rich crystalline phase is observed in M2 both in atomic-resolution EDX maps and in mass density profiles. Additionally, M1 shows high -axis orientation, which induces a higher anisotropy constant K1 as well as a larger coercivity due to a high number of phase boundaries. Despite the existence of a canted antiferromagnetic/ferromagnetic combination (T < 140 K), both heterostructures M1 and M2 do not reveal any detectable exchange bias at T = 50 K. Additionally, compressive residual strain on the BaM layer is found to be suppressing the ferromagnetism, thus reducing the Curie temperature (Tc) in the case of M1. These findings suggest that M1 (BaFeO/YbFeO/YSZ) is suitable for magnetic storage applications.

Modelling the diffusion-relaxation magnetic resonance (MR) signal obtained from multi-parametric sequences has recently gained immense interest in the community due to new techniques significantly reducing data acquisition time. A preferred approach for examining the diffusion-relaxation MR data is to follow the continuum modelling principle that employs kernels to represent the tissue features, such as the relaxations or diffusion properties. However, constructing reasonable dictionaries with predefined signal components depends on the sampling density of model parameter space, thus leading to a geometrical increase in the number of atoms per extra tissue parameter considered in the model.

This case report is the description of a devastating illness, Progressive Bulbar Palsy (PBP) of a sixty-seven years old male patient. He presented with complaints of slurred speech, hearing impairment, generalised weakness of limbs, weakened grip to hold objects in hand, difficulty to walk with normal speed, frequent dizzy feeling while walking, severe fatigue, increased anger, heaviness of head, depression, anxiety, decreased memory and headache for 1 year. When he consulted conventional medicine, in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) of brain, only 'Partial empty sella' and age related mild cerebral atrophy was detected and the patient was diagnosed PBP clinically.

RuO, the benchmark catalyst for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER), has traditionally been considered Pauli paramagnetic; however, recent findings have demonstrated its antiferromagnetic (AFM) properties, hinting at the opportunity to enhance RuO's OER performance by manipulating its magnetic traits. In this study, we successfully induced weak ferromagnetism in commercial RuO, transitioning it from an AFM state using an electrochemical sodiation method. This process resulted in high activity, achieving an overpotential of 145 mV to reach 10 mA cm and extending the service hours by more than 13 times compared to pristine RuO in 0.

Studying multidomain proteins, especially those combining well-folded domains with intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs), requires specific Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) techniques to address their structural complexity. To illustrate this, we focus here on the nucleocapsid protein from SARS-CoV-2, which includes both structured and disordered regions. We applied a suite of NMR methods, combining ARTINA software for automatic assignment and structure modelling with multi-receiver experiments that simultaneously capture signals from different nuclear spins, increasing both data quality and acquisition efficiency.
