Parenting style refers to the emotional climate in which parents nurture and guide their child's social development. Despite the prominence of parenting style research, many studies still create their own psychometrically untested measures of parenting styles, use measures that do not capture the uninvolved parenting style, or use median splits to convert dimensional assessments into parenting style typologies. To address these measurement issues, the current studies developed the Parenting Styles Circumplex Inventory (PSCI) which is rooted in Contemporary Integrative Interpersonal Theory and provides a framework to unite typology and dimensional parenting style measurement approaches. The current article describes the development and initial validation of the PSCI across three samples of college students (s = 571, 361, 385). The 32-item PSCI consists of eight octant scales which each assess unique combinations of parental responsiveness and demandingness. The measure asks respondents to answer each question about their mother- and/or father-figure. The circumplex structure of the PSCI was confirmed and replicated across studies and the PSCI demonstrated meaningful associations with indicators of parenting practices, relationship functioning, psychopathology symptoms, and substance use. Results from this study provide initial support for the PSCI as a path forward for measuring parenting styles.

Parents of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) face unique challenges that may significantly increase stress levels, potentially impacting the emotional well-being of the entire family. In Mexico, limited research has examined the association between parental stress and coping strategies among families with children with developmental disabilities. This study aimed to compare stress levels and coping strategies among parents of children with ASD, ADHD, and neurotypical developing (NTD) children, as well as to analyze differences in coping styles across these groups.

Purpose: The study aims to assess familial and environmental characteristics and daily routines (nutrition, sleep, and screen time) associated with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in Turkish children and compare them with typically developing peers.
Methods: A case-control study was conducted with 106 ADHD-diagnosed children and 100 typically developing peers. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and logistic regression models to determine risk factors for ADHD.

Parents of children with ASD face significantly greater parenting challenges than those raising typically developing children due to prolonged exposure to their children's developmental disorders, emotional distress, and atypical behaviors, underscoring the urgency of addressing their mental health concerns. This study examined the relationship between fear of negative evaluation (FNE) and social anxiety in parents of children with ASD, with a focus on the mediating roles of perceived social support and coping styles. A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 585 parents of children with ASD using validated instruments: the Brief Fear of Negative Evaluation Scale (BFNE), the Social Anxiety Scale, the Perceived Social Support Scale, and the Simple Coping Style Questionnaire.
