Article Abstract

At present, understanding of neonicotinoid toxicity in arthropods remains limited. We here evaluated the lethal and sublethal effects of acetamiprid in F and F generations of Binodoxys communis using a range of sublethal concentrations. The 10% lethal concentration (LC) and half lethal concentration (LC) of ACE had negative effects on the B. communis survival rate, adult longevity, parasitism rate, and emergence rate, and significantly prolonged the duration of the developmental cycle. ACE also had intergenerational effects, with some biological indices affected in the F generation after pesticide exposure. Transcriptomic analysis demonstrated that differentially expressed genes were enriched in specific pathways including the amino acid metabolism, carbohydrate metabolism, energy metabolism, exogenous metabolism, signal transduction, and glutathione metabolism pathways. These results indicated strong contact toxicity of ACE to B. communis, which may inhibit their biological control capacity. These results improve our understanding of the toxicological mechanisms of parasitic natural enemies in response to insecticide exposure.

Chlorpyrifos (CPF), a widely used organophosphate insecticide in cotton cultivation for controlling Aphis gossypii, has Binodoxys communis as the primary parasitic natural enemy of A. gossypii. This study evaluated the impact of two sub-lethal CPF concentrations (LC10 and LC30) on key biological parameters across two generations, transcriptomic responses, and symbiotic bacterial communities in B.

is a dominant endoparasitoid of aphids in cotton fields, yet empirical evidence on how temperature and humidity regulate its growth, development, and reproduction remains limited. To address this gap, we assessed the effects of both constant and fluctuating temperature, as well as various combinations of temperature and humidity, on the longevity, parasitism, and fecundity of this parasitoid. Our results revealed that adult longevity of was longer at 20 °C and 25 °C while significantly shortened at a high temperature (35 °C).

Alterative nutritional foods consumed by adult parasitoids play an important role in their fitness and ability to control pests because of food scarcity in many crops. While adult parasitoids feed on various sugars, they vary in their nutritional value for parasitoids. We assessed the effects of seven sugars (fructose, glucose, sucrose, trehalose, maltose, melezitose, and sorbitol) on the longevity, parasitism ability, parasitism behavior, and flight ability of , an important parasitoid of cotton aphids.

The effective systemic insecticide fipronil is widely used on a variety of crops and in public spaces to control insect pests. Binodoxys communis (Gahan) (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) is the dominant natural enemy of Aphis gossypii Glover (Homoptera: Aphididae), an important cotton pest, and has good efficiency in inhibiting aphid populations. The direct effects of environmental residues of sublethal fipronil doses on adult B.
