Caffeine and anabolic-androgenic steroids (AAS) are commonly used to improve muscle mass and athletic performance. Nandrolone Decanoate (ND) is one of the most abused AAS worldwide, leading to behavioral changes in both humans and rodents. Caffeine, the most widely consumed psychostimulant globally, is present in various thermogenic and gym supplements. Low and moderate doses of caffeine antagonize adenosine receptors and have been linked to improved memory and pain relief. We have previously demonstrated that consuming caffeine prevents the risk-taking behavior triggered by nandrolone. In this study, we aimed to investigate the long-term effects of ND and caffeine, either alone or in combination, on passive avoidance memory and nociception. We used the step-down and hot-plate tasks in male and female Lister Hooded rats. Our results confirmed the antinociceptive effect of caffeine and indicated that chronic administration of the ND-caffeine association promotes the evocation of aversive memory in female rats.

The term ``anabolic-androgenic steroids'' (AASs) refers to a class of artificial substances that resemble the natural testosterone. The most often misused androgen, nandrolone decanoate (ND), is regarded as a public health concern that needs immediate action to raise public awareness of toxicology results on AAS usage. This study designed to investigate the therapeutics effect of nano ferrite-chitosan-curcumin nanoparticles (NF-CH-CurNPs) against ND induced renal toxicity, proliferation, inflammation, and oxidative stress in male rats.

Nandrolone decanoate, a synthetic form of the testosterone hormone, is misused by some bodybuilders and adolescents to gain muscle mass. We investigated its effect on the prostate during postpubertal age and evaluated the reversibility of these effects after a period of cessation. Thirty albino rats were utilized and categorized into three distinct groups: Control group, a treated group that received nandrolone decanoate weekly by intramuscular injection with 10 mg/kg for 4 weeks while recovery group received nandrolone, similar to the treated group, followed by an additional recovery period of 4 weeks.

Purpose: This study examined the effect of resistance training (RT) and nandrolone decanoate (ND) administration on neuromuscular junction (NMJ) morphology and neurotrophin expression.
Methods: Forty 3-month-old male C57Bl/6 J mice were randomized to a RT or sedentary (SED) group. Each group of animals were further divided into sham (S) or ND (35 mg/kg/week) groups.

This paper describes the studies of the in vitro biotransformation of nandrolone decanoate and its metabolic fate in equine plasma and urine after intramuscular administration to castrated thoroughbred horses. The in vitro metabolic study was performed using homogenised horse liver, and the more prominent in vitro biotransformation pathways were found to include hydrolysis, reduction, oxidation and sulfation, mainly resulting in seven Phase I metabolites and one Phase II metabolite. The administration study of nandrolone decanoate was carried out using three retired thoroughbred geldings, each of which was administered intramuscularly with 800 mg of nandrolone decanoate (Deca-Durabolin) once weekly for three consecutive weeks.

Sarcopenia, an age-related condition marked by the decline of skeletal muscle mass, strength, and function, often leads to loss of function, disability, and diminished quality of life (QoL) in the elderly population. Despite its growing prevalence, sarcopenia is frequently underdiagnosed and inadequately managed. Timely detection and appropriate interventions are crucial to slowing disease progression and minimizing associated risks.
