(L.) Crantz is an oilseed plant common in Europe and Asia. This study used the gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) to examine the differences in the aroma on the basis of extraction method such as water distillation extraction (CSPW), Solid-phase microextraction (CSPM) and subcritical extraction (CSPS). Antibacterial test was evaluated by the microdilution method against , , , , , and antioxidant activity was determined through DPPH free radical, hydroxyl free radical, and superoxide anion radical scavenging capacity activity. The result revealed that three extraction methods were distinct from each other based on their volatile compounds. Sixty-one volatiles of diverse chemical nature were identified and quantified. The volatile components contain thioether, aldehydes, alcohols, ketones, acids, esters, alkene, alkanes, amide, and furan compounds. The volatile components of (L.) Crantz have good antibacterial and antioxidant activities. Furthermore, this work provides reference methods for detecting novel volatile organic compounds in plants and products.

The study of electrochemical oxidations has wide-ranging implications, from the development of new electrocatalysts for fuel cells for energy conversion, to the synthesis of fine chemicals. 2,2,6,6-Tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl (TEMPO) has been used for decades as a sustainable, metal-free mediator for chemical oxidations and is now being used for electrochemical oxidations. We describe here a novel approach to TEMPO-mediated electrooxidations, in which the chemical input and waste generated during electrooxidations of alcohols are minimized by using a multifunctional room temperature ionic liquid (RTIL) to facilitate flow electrosynthesis.

In this study, the systematic investigation focused on how varying power levels of ultrasonic (US) pretreatment, when integrated with electrohydrodynamic (EHD) drying, influence the physicochemical properties of yam. Yam samples were subjected to ultrasonic pretreatment at 30 °C for 30 min using power levels of 0 W (Control), 150 W, 180 W, 210 W, 240 W, and 270 W, respectively, followed by drying in an EHD system. During the drying process, a range of metrics were measured, including moisture content, average drying rate, color change, as well as rehydration capacity.

The pyrolysis of flue-cured tobacco stalks (TS) faces challenges such as low bio-oil value and utilization efficiency. Existing studies have overlooked the anatomical heterogeneity of tobacco stalks, thereby limiting the directional regulation of high-value components, such as nicotine and phenolic compounds. This study divides TS into the husk (TSH), xylem (TSX), and pith (TSP), and investigates their physicochemical properties, pyrolysis behavior (through TGA and fixed-bed pyrolysis experiments), and interactions.
