Background: Individuals with Down syndrome are thought to have a unique tumor profile.
Methods: Using the IQVIA Disease Analyzer database, patients aged ≥18 years diagnosed with Down syndrome in German general practices between 2005 and 2021 were compared with patients without Down syndrome for cancer incidence, adjusting for age, sex, average annual visit frequency, and comorbidity. The 5-year cumulative incidence of cancer overall and specific cancers was analyzed using Kaplan-Meier curves and compared using the log-rank test. In addition, univariable Cox regression analysis was performed.
Results: A total of 2438 patients with Down syndrome and 12,190 patients without Down syndrome were included; 3.9% of patients without Down syndrome and 3.1% of patients with Down syndrome were diagnosed with cancer ( = 0.143). Regression analysis showed no significant association between Down syndrome and subsequent cancer in the total population (HR: 0.79; 95% CI: 0.57-1.09), in women (HR: 0.89; 95% CI: 0.56-1.37), or in men (HR: 0.69; 95% CI: 0.43-1.11). Analyses by cancer type and sex showed a strong but not significant negative association between Down syndrome and breast cancer in women (HR: 0.33; 95% CI: 0.12-0.93).
Conclusions: Our results could form the basis for future studies to clarify whether and to what extent an adapted screening program needs to be modified for individuals with Down syndrome due to the particular cancer distribution pattern.

This study examines the association between autoimmune diseases and melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer using data from the All of Us Research Program. We conducted a cross-sectional analysis including 419,789 participants using multivariable logistic regression models adjusting for sociodemographic variables, comorbidities, and immunosuppressant use. We found significant associations between melanoma and Sjögren's syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), vitiligo, and autoimmune thyroiditis.

Background: Acute necrotizing encephalopathy is a rare but severe neurological disorder characterized by rapid onset of fever, altered mental status, seizures, and multifocal brain lesions, particularly involving the thalami and brainstem. Often triggered by viral infections, its pathogenesis involves a hyperinflammatory response, resulting in blood-brain barrier disruption and necrosis of neural tissue. While influenza and herpesviruses are common etiological agents, adenovirus is a less frequently reported cause.

Objective: To observe the clinical effect and safety of Lu'e Biyan Formula (LBF) combined with loratadine in the treatment of moderate to severe allergic rhinitis (AR) patients with Fei (Lung)-qi deficiency-coldness (FQDC) syndrome.
Methods: From September 2023 to December 2024, moderate to severe AR patients with FQDC syndrome were recruited from the Outpatient Department of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine for Pulmonary Diseases Part 1, China-Japan Friendship Hospital. Participants were randomly assigned to a test group and a control group by using a random number table at a ratio of 1:1.

Background: Low cerebral perfusion pressure (CPP) has previously been identified as a key prognostic marker after pediatric traumatic brain injury (TBI). Cerebrovascular autoregulation supports stabilization of cerebral blood flow within the autoregulation range. Beyond the upper limit of this range, cerebral blood flow increases with increasing CPP, leading to increased risk of intracranial hypertension and blood-brain barrier disruptions.
