Article Abstract

The precisely engineered structures of materials greatly influence the manifestation of their properties. For example, in the process of alkali metal ion storage, a carefully designed structure capable of accommodating inserted and extracted ions will improve the stability of material cycling. The present study explores the uniform distribution of self-grown carbon nanotubes to provide structural support for the conductive and elastic MXene layers of TiCT-Co@NCNTs. Furthermore, a compatible electrolyte system has been optimized by analyzing the solvation structure and carefully regulating the component in the solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) layer. Mechanistic studies demonstrate that the decomposition predominantly controlled by FSI leads to the formation of a robust inorganic SEI layer enriched with KF, thus effectively inhibiting irreversible side reactions and major structural deterioration. Confirming our expectations, TiCT-Co@NCNTs exhibits an impressive reversible capacity of 260 mA h g, even after 2000 cycles at 500 mA g in 1 M KFSI (DME), surpassing most MXene-based anodes reported for PIBs. Additionally, density functional theory (DFT) calculations verify the superior electronic conductivity and lower K diffusion energy barriers of the novel superstructure of TiCT-Co@NCNTs, thereby affirming the improved electrochemical kinetics. This study presents systematic evaluation methodologies for future research on MXene-based anodes in PIBs.

The development of high-performance potassium-ion batteries (PIBs) are plagued by favorable anode materials which could accommodate the large-sized K ion, achieving fast charging/discharging kinetics and superior cycle life simultaneously. In the present work, we propose a novel three-dimensional hybrid aerogel, N-MoCT-SnS@rGO, in which SnS nanosheets were uniformly anchored onto the elastic and conductive N-MoCT MXenes framework and subsequently encapsulated with reduced graphene oxide (rGO). SnS presents inherent layered configuration and low operating voltage while this unique aerogel architecture could simultaneously improve conductivity, structural integrity, and interfacial contact as well as provide multiple ion/electron transport channels.

Sensors have been playing increasingly important roles in the fields of healthcare, environmental monitoring, transportation, and industrial automation. Flexible sensors have been developed to overcome the shortcomings of traditional rigid sensors, especially in the fields of wearable and implantable electronics and soft robotic applications. However, the elastic substrates of current flexible sensors are predominantly derived from petrochemical resources, which face challenges such as non-renewability and suboptimal performance.

Wearable supercapacitors, an emerging integrable power source for conformable bioelectronics, offer high-power density, flexibility, and longevity. Conducting polymer hydrogels (CPHs) combine electronic conductivity and mechanical flexibility, making them promising electrode materials for seamless interfacing with biological tissues. Nevertheless, most pristine CPHs are brittle and crack under deformation, sacrificing device performance.

Multilayer graphene platelet films (MGPFs) are widely studied for their exceptional mechanical, electrical, and chemical properties. The elastic properties and deformation mechanisms of MGPFs are highly sensitive to their geometric parameters, including graphene platelet size, graphene area fraction, and layer count. Despite extensive experimental and theoretical efforts, systematically quantifying these effects remains a significant challenge, severely hindering the design of high-performance MGPFs.

Conductive hydrogels are valued for their flexibility and sensitivity for flexible wearable sensors, but they typically focus on strain sensing and lack features such as fast temperature response. In addition, discarded sensors can cause environmental problems. Based on this, we developed a novel GBM hydrogel using NIPAAm, AM, PDA@BN, MXene, and SA to achieve dual response to temperature and strain as well as reuse after disposal.
