To achieve a high quantum yield (QY) of nanomaterials suitable for optical applications, we improved the optical properties of AgInS (AIS) quantum dots (QDs) by employing an alloyed-core/inner-shell/outer-shell (ZAIS/ZIS/ZnS) structure. We also investigated the mechanism of optical transitions to clarify the improvement of QYs. In AIS, the low-energy absorption near the band edge region is attributed to the weakly allowed band gap transition, which gains oscillator strength through state intermixing and electron-phonon coupling. The main photoluminescence is also ascribed to the weakly allowed band gap transition with characteristics of self-trapped excitonic emission. With alloying/shelling processes, the weakly allowed transition is enhanced by the evolution of the electronic structures in the alloyed core, which improves the band gap emission. In shelled structures, the nonradiative process is reduced by the reconstructed lattice and passivated surface, ultimately leading to a high QY of 85% in ZAIS/ZIS/ZnS. These findings provide new insights into the optical transitions of AIS because they challenge previous conclusions. In addition, our work elucidates the mechanism behind the enhancement of QY accomplished through alloying/shelling processes, providing strategies to optimize nontoxic QDs for various applications using a green chemistry approach.

Chest X-ray (CXR) is a challenging problem in automated medical diagnosis, where complex visual patterns of thoracic diseases must be precisely identified through multi-label classification and lesion localization. Current approaches typically consider classification and localization in isolation, resulting in a piecemeal system that does not exploit common representations and is often not clinically interpretable, as well as limited in handling multi-label diseases. Although multi-task learning frameworks, such as DeepChest and CLN, appear to meet this goal, they suffer from task interference and poor explainability, which limits their practical application in real-world clinical workflows.

Traditional hydrogel preparation methods typically require multiple steps and certain external stimuli. In this study, rapid and stable gelation of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)-tannic acid (TA)-based hydrogels was achieved through the regulation of hydrogen bonds. The cross-linking between PVA and TA is triggered by the evaporation of ethanol.

Understanding motion in dynamic environments is critical for autonomous driving, thereby motivating research on class-agnostic motion prediction. In this work, we investigate weakly and self-supervised class-agnostic motion prediction from LiDAR point clouds. Outdoor scenes typically consist of mobile foregrounds and static backgrounds, allowing motion understanding to be associated with scene parsing.

Objective: Describe an innovative Sports Medicine clinic design implemented in an outpatient Physical Therapy (PT) clinic within a Military Treatment Facility (MTF) for both referral and direct access (DA) entry portal pathways, and to investigate the modifying effect of medical system initial entry pathway for musculoskeletal injury (MSI) on time from injury to begin care for outcomes of duration of care, recurrence of MSI care for the same condition out to 2 years from discharge after initial care, and physical profile status at time of initial discharge.
Design: Quasi-experimental prospective longitudinal cohort study of active duty Army Soldiers in a MTF who sought care for an initial MSI over a 2-year period.
Materials And Methods: Four hundred eighty-eight individuals were classified by the pathway they entered the Military Health System through: early access pt (EAPT) referral pathway EAPT (n = 290), or DA (n = 198) pathway.

For zeolites, an approach is tested to compute adsorption free energies by using molecular dynamics (MD) simulations based on density functional theory (DFT) at the PBE-D3 level of theory. The interaction free energy between zeolite and adsorbate is computed with Bennett's acceptance ratio method (BAR). An intermediate hard-sphere model is introduced to improve overlap between interacting and noninteracting systems.
