The utilization of waste generated by natural resources is a crucial problem nowadays. The current study describes the utilization of pineapple () crown residue husk (PCRh) as a strength additive for low-density polyethylene (LDPE) and ethylene propylene rubber (EPR) composites. The blend composites with 30% husk, 10 wt % EPR, and 60% LDPE content showed much better mechanical properties, such as tensile strength and flexural properties, than pristine LDPE and its binary composite with 10 wt % EPR. The high tensile strength (∼19.28 MPa) and tensile modulus (522.97 MPa) were obtained for the composite consisting of 30 wt % PCRh in the basic polymer matrix. Similarly, the highest flexural strength (∼18.09 MPa) and modulus (∼790.29 MPa) were recorded for the same composition. The incorporation of PCRh with LDPE and EPR was further characterized by attenuated total reflection-Fourier transform infrared, differential scanning calorimetry, field emission scanning electron microscopy, dynamic mechanical analysis, and a universal testing machine to evaluate its impact on various properties.

Purpose The aim of this study was to assess the effectiveness of a PEEK (polyether-ether-ketone) ultrasonic tip in the cleaning around implant-supported restorations and to evaluate the effect of different cement types on the amount of residual cement at the restoration margins.Materials and methods A master model with an implant analogue placed in the upper left first premolar region was used to create 72 cast models and zirconia crowns were fabricated for each model. A total of 72 zirconia crowns were divided into two main groups based on the cleaning method applied after cementation.

The recent discovery that the model multidrug efflux pump from , EmrE, can perform multiple types of transport suggests that this may be a compelling target for therapeutic intervention. Initial studies have identified several small-molecule substrates capable of inducing transporter-dependent susceptibility rather than the well-known antibiotic resistance phenotype. However, many questions regarding the underlying mechanism and regulation of this transporter still remain.

Carbon deposits on the crown of engine pistons can markedly reduce combustion efficiency and shorten service life. Conventional cleaning techniques often fail to simultaneously ensure a high carbon removal efficiency and maintain optimal surface integrity. To enable efficient and precise carbon removal, this study proposes the application of hybrid laser cleaning-combining continuous-wave (CW) and pulsed lasers-to piston carbon deposit removal, and employs response surface methodology (RSM) for multi-objective process optimization.

This study aimed to characterize the abnormal swallowing features observed during Videofluoroscopic Swallowing Studies (VFSS) in moderate to severe COVID-19 patients. From the JH CROWN cohort database (January 2020 to March 2022), a total of 3,660 patients with moderate to severe COVID - 19 disease requiring oxygen supplementation were identified. The study abstracted and reported VFSS referral rates and swallowing characteristics using Modified Barium Swallow Impairment Profile (MBSImP).

We report on the metal-free active template synthesis of crown ether-peptide rotaxanes. A 24-crown-8 ring is sufficiently small that the side chains of canonical branched amino acids act as barriers that trap the macrocycle on the particular glycine residue used to assemble the rotaxane. The resulting crown ether-tripeptide rotaxane can subsequently be extended from either or both N- and C-termini of the axle.
