The skin is the largest organ and a crucial barrier for protection against various intrinsic and extrinsic factors. As we age, the skin's components become more vulnerable to damage, forming wrinkles. Among different procedures, hyaluronic acid-based hydrogel has been extensively utilized for skin regeneration and reducing wrinkles. However, it has limitations like low retention and weak mechanical properties. In this study, we suggested the poly(l-lactic acid) (PLLA) microparticles containing alkaline magnesium hydroxide and nitric oxide-generating zinc oxide and rejuvenative hyaluronic acid (HA) hydrogels including these functional microparticles and asiaticoside, creating a novel delivery system for skin rejuvenation and regeneration. The fabricated rejuvenative hydrogels have exhibited enhanced biocompatibility, pH neutralization, reactive oxygen species scavenging, collagen biosynthesis, and angiogenesis capabilities and . Additionally, an excellent volume retention ability was demonstrated due to the numerous hydrogen bonds that formed between hyaluronic acid and asiaticoside. Overall, our advanced injectable hydrogel containing functional microparticles, with controlled release of bioactive molecules, has a significant potential for enhancing the regeneration and rejuvenation of the skin.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the efficacy and safety of add-on metformin treatment in persons with active epilepsy (a-PWE). This is a single-centric, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial randomised a-PWE (1:1) to receive either metformin (extended-release 500 mg) or matching placebo for 6 months along with background antiseizure medications. Primary outcome was percentage change in seizure frequency/month, and secondary outcomes were 50% responder rate, serum mTOR expression, and serum total antioxidant capacity (TAC), body composition analysis, quality of life (QOL), and safety assessment.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) remains a major global health burden, necessitating more effective and selective therapeutic approaches. Nanocarrier-based drug delivery systems offer significant advantages by enhancing drug accumulation in tumors, reducing off-target toxicity, and overcoming resistance mechanisms. This review provides a comprehensive overview of recent advancements in nanocarriers for CRC therapy, including passive targeting the enhanced permeability and retention (EPR) effect, and active targeting strategies that exploit specific tumor markers using ligands such as antibodies, peptides, and aptamers.

Consumption of mango has been associated with a number of beneficial effects on health which have been attributed to phenolic catabolites originating from (poly)phenols following ingestion. To investigate the origins of potentially bioactive phenolic catabolites, ileostomists and subjects with a full gastrointestinal tract on a low(poly)phenol diet ingested a mango pulp purée containing 426 μmol of (poly)phenols consisting mainly of gallotannins and cinnamic acids, along with 231 μmol of the aromatic amino acids phenylalanine and tyrosine. Over a 24 h period post-mango intake plasma and urine were collected and analysed by UHPLC-HRMS.

Background: Stored-product insects (Sitophilus spp., Plodia interpunctella, Sitotroga cerealella) drive substantial postharvest losses and increasingly resist synthetic fumigants. Valeriana wallichii roots yield volatile oils rich in short-chain acids and sesquiterpenes.
