Article Abstract

We explored the effects of the endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) gene -786 T > C and 894 G > T locus polymorphisms and the methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) gene 1298 A > C and 677 C > T locus polymorphisms on preeclampsia (PE) in pregnant women in Quanzhou area and provide reliable and stable predictors PE. This study included 160 normal pregnant women (normal control group) and 160 women with preeclampsia (PE group). Polymorphisms in eNOS gene and MTHFR were analyzed by the polymerase chain reaction/restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR/RFLP) technique. eNOS 894 G > T locus and MTHFR 1298 A > C locus had no significant difference between the two groups. In the PE patients, eNOS -786 T allele (OR: 2.07,  = 0.03) and MTHFR 677 C allele (OR: 1.83,  = 0.04) had significantly lower frequency. The nitric oxide (NO) level in patients with eNOS -786 C C was significantly lower than that in those with -786 TT. The homocysteine (Hcy) level in patients with MTHFR 677 TT was significantly higher than that in those with 677 C C. In conclusion, the frequency of the eNOS -786 C C genotype and MTHFR 677 TT genotype are higher in women with PE, which cause lower NO level and higher Hcy level.

Vascular tone is impacted by the endothelium's ability to detect mechanical and chemical stimulation. eucine- ich epeat- ontaining protein A, (LRRC8A), was previously identified as a required component of the mechanoresponsive endothelial LRRC8 complex regulating AKT-endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) signaling and vascular function. While LRRC8A is broadly expressed, LRRC8B, C, D and E have tissue-restricted expression.

Breast cancer (BC) remains a significant health problem globally, with complex underlying processes that are not fully understood. This study investigates the intricate relationship between endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) and reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the progressions of BC. Here we examine the essential roles of superoxide (O2·¯), hydrogen peroxide (HO), and hydroxyl free radicals (OH·) in promoting tumor development, angiogenesis, and metastasis.

Nitric oxide (NO) predominantly regulates endometrial receptivity, angiogenesis, immunological tolerance, and trophoblast invasion throughout the implantation period. Both insufficient and excessive nitric oxide production have been linked to suboptimal embryo implantation and infertility. The primary enzymatic source of uterine nitric oxide, along with hormonal, metabolic, and immunological variables and genetic variations in the endothelial nitric oxide synthase gene (NOS3), affects endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS).

Background: Endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) gene polymorphisms may affect its enzymatic activity and nitric oxide (NO) production, which in turn interfere with endothelial function, regulate vascular tone, and participate in inflammatory responses. This ultimately affects the risk and prognosis of acute coronary syndrome (ACS). The aim of this study is to explore the association of eNOS gene polymorphisms with ACS risk factors.

Background: Unruptured intracranial aneurysms (IAs) are increasingly detected due to advancements in neuroimaging. Despite improvements in treatment, aneurysmal subarachnoid haemorrhage (aSAH) is associated with high mortality and morbidity. Treatment decisions for IA are complex and individualized, considering aneurysm and patient-related risk factors.
