Recently, we discovered two novel orthobornaviruses in colubrid and viperid snakes using an data-mining approach. Here, we present the results of a screening of more than 100,000 nucleic acid sequence datasets of fish samples from the Sequence Read Archive (SRA) for potential bornaviral sequences. We discovered the potentially complete genomes of seven bornavirids in datasets from osteichthyans and chondrichthyans. Four of these are likely to represent novel species within the genus , and we propose that one genome represents a novel genus within the family of . Specifically, we identified sequences of Wǔhàn sharpbelly bornavirus in sequence data from the widely used grass carp liver and kidney cell lines L8824 and CIK, respectively. A complete genome of Murray-Darling carp bornavirus was identified in sequence data from a goldfish (). The newly discovered little skate bornavirus, identified in the little skate () dataset, contained a novel and unusual genomic architecture (N-Vp1-Vp2-X-P-G-M-L), as compared to other bornavirids. Its genome is thought to encode two additional open reading frames (tentatively named Vp1 and Vp2), which appear to represent ancient duplications of the gene encoding the viral glycoprotein (G). The datasets also provided insights into the possible transcriptional gradients of these bornavirids and revealed previously unknown splicing mechanisms.

Background: Photoplethysmography (PPG) signals captured by wearable devices can provide vascular age information and support pervasive and long-term monitoring of personal health condition.
Objective: In this study, we aimed to estimate brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV) from wrist PPG and electrocardiography (ECG) from smartwatch.
Methods: A total of 914 wrist PPG and ECG sequences and 278 baPWV measurements were collected via the smartwatch from 80 men and 82 women with average age of 63.

Background: Early-onset preeclampsia poses significant risks to maternal and fetal health, necessitating a deeper understanding of its molecular mechanisms and effective therapeutic strategies.
Methods: Utilizing data from genome-wide association study and Mendelian randomization analysis, we investigated the relationship between mitochondrial DNA copy number and preeclampsia. Transcriptome sequencing, in vitro experiments, and animal studies were conducted to explore the roles of SENP3 and SETD7 in preeclampsia pathogenesis.

Background: Genetic variation contributes to atrial fibrillation (AF), but its impact may vary with age. The Research Program contains whole-genome sequencing of data from 100 574 adult participants with linked electronic health records.
Methods: We assessed clinical, monogenic, and polygenic associations with AF in a cross-sectional analysis, stratified by age: <45 years (n=22 290), 45 to 60 years (n=26 805), and >60 years (n=51 659).

Background: Recent research has started to uncover an important connection between immune system activity and cognitive abilities. Although correlative associations have been documented, the causal mechanisms connecting specific immune cell subpopulations to cognitive capabilities remain insufficiently characterized. Our research aimed to determine directional relationships between distinct immune cell subtypes and cognitive function, potentially identifying targets for immunomodulatory interventions.

To investigate the clinicopathological characteristics of non-HPV-related common differentiated penile squamous cell carcinoma, and to observe and analyze the changes of TP53 gene and the expression and significance of TP53, P16, programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1), epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), androgen receptor (AR), human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 (HER2), and Ki67 proteins in tumor tissue. A total of 65 patients with penile squamous cell carcinoma diagnosed from May 2008 to May 2020 in Yantai Yuhuangding Hospital were retrospectively analyzed, and tumors were confirmed as non-HPV-associated common differentiated squamous cell carcinoma of the penis with negative HPV molecular tests in 55 patients. The relevant clinicopathological data of 55 patients were collected, and the TP53 gene mutation was detected by applying first-generation sequencing technology.
