Purpose: To evaluate visual outcomes after bacterial keratitis (BK) and identify predictive factors for poor prognosis at a tertiary referral center in Southern California.

Methods: This is a cross-sectional retrospective review of patients' medical records with culture-positive BK at University of California Los Angeles from January 1, 2014, to December 31, 2019. Main outcome measure was change in best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) at 12 weeks posttreatment.

Introduction: Melatonin supplements and melatonin receptor agonists are linked to reduced delirium in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) which we hypothesised may affect the length of stay (LOS) in ICU or in hospital. In this review, we identified and critically appraised the literature on the effect of exogenous melatonin and melatonin receptor agonists on the ICU and/or hospital LOS among adults admitted to the ICU.

Methods: Six electronic databases and three trial registries were searched for randomised controlled trials (RCTs).

Drug-target interaction (DTI) identification is of great significance in drug development in various areas, such as drug repositioning and potential drug side effects. Although a great variety of computational methods have been proposed for DTI prediction, it is still a challenge in the face of sparsely correlated drugs or targets. To address the impact of data sparsity on the model, we propose a multi-view neighborhood-enhanced graph contrastive learning approach (MneGCL), which is based on graph clustering according to the adjacency relationship in various similarity networks between drugs or targets, to fully exploit the information of drugs and targets with few corrections.

Purpose Of Review: Modern presbyopia-correcting intraocular lenses (IOLs) offer a potential solution to address the rising postoperative demand and expectations for spectacle independence following cataract surgery. However, IOL calculation and selection becomes more complex when presented with previous corneal refractive surgery (CRS) or co-existing corneal conditions. This review explores the use of presbyopia-correcting IOLs in eyes with co-existing corneal conditions or surgically altered corneas.

Uric acid to HDL ratio (UHR) is a new measure of inflammation that has been widely used to study cardiovascular disease relationships. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between uric acid to HDL ratio and hypertension. We found that UHR was positively associated with hypertension prevalence in a nationally representative sample of U.
