Article Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of radiopacifier calcium tungstate and manipulation with distilled water (DW) or liquid with additives (LA) on calcium silicate clinker Angelus (CL) properties, compared with MTA (Angelus, Brazil) and MTA Repair HP (MTAHP, Angelus, Brazil). The physicochemical properties, cellular viability and bioactivity were evaluated. ANOVA/Tukey and Bonferroni tests were performed (α = 0.05). There was no difference in material setting time (p > 0.05). MTA and MTAHP were similar (p > 0.05) and had greater radiopacity than CL + DW and CL + LA (p < 0.05). All experimental materials showed mass increase, alkalinisation capacity, besides biocompatibility and bioactivity at 3 and 7 days. The different liquids had no influence in the biological properties and bioactivity of the calcium silicate clinker Angelus. Calcium tungstate provided radiopacity, without changing the setting time, maintaining the mass increase and alkalinisation ability of the calcium silicate materials.

The reconstruction of critical-sized bone defects remains a challenging clinical problem. At present, the implantation of autogenous and allogeneic grafts is the main clinical treatment strategy but faces some drawbacks, such as inadequate source, donor site-related complications, and immune rejection, driving researchers to develop artificial bone substitutes based on distinct materials and fabrication technologies. Among the bone substitutes, bioceramic-based substitutes exhibit a remarkable biocompatibility, which can also be designed to degrade concomitantly with the formation of new bone.

Phosphogypsum is an acidic solid waste mainly composed of CaSO₄-2H₂O by-products of the wet process phosphoric acid industry, which has the characteristics of high impurity content, poor stability of stockpiling, but can be utilized in a resourceful way. Phosphogypsum waste utilization can reduce environmental pollution, save resources and create economic value. In order to investigate the fatigue characteristics and the mechanism of dynamic strength change of cement-phosphogypsum-red clay under wet and dry cycles, the cumulative deformation characteristics and the rule of change of critical dynamic stress of the mixed materials were investigated by dynamic triaxial fatigue test, SEM and XRD test, and the mechanism of dynamic strength change was analyzed according to the microstructure and the chemical mineral composition of the mixed materials.

To investigate the dislodgement resistance of AH Plus and CeraSeal sealers to root dentin conditioned with Dual Rinse 1-hydroxyethylidene-1,1-diphosphonic acid (HEDP) (DR HEDP) or Triton and to correlate their effects on the organic and inorganic content of the root dentin treated with test irrigants.Sixty single-rooted extracted human teeth were divided into two groups and irrigated with DR HEDP or Triton. These samples were further divided into two subgroups to study the dislodgement resistance of AH Plus and CeraSeal sealers.

Objectives: This study aimed to assess the influence of two endodontic sealers on the bond strength of glass fiber posts using conventional and self-adhesive resin cement through a push-out test.

Methods: Forty central human incisors were randomly divided into four groups (n = 10) based on sealer (epoxy resin- based or calcium silicate-based) and cement (conventional and self-adhesive resin) types: AH Plus (Dentsply De- Trey)/RelyX ARC (3M ESPE), AH Plus/RelyX U200 (3M ESPE), Bio-C Sealer (Angelus)/RelyX ARC, and Bio-C Sealer/RelyX U200. After canal filling and post cementation, roots were sectioned to obtain one specimen per root third.

This study aimed to evaluate the biocompatibility of newly synthesised cement (Nanodentin) in comparison with Biodentine and CEM cement. The cements were implanted in rat skin and tissue reactions were assessed after 7, 30 and 60 days. H&E staining was used to measure the inflammatory response, the number of inflammatory cells and the presence of necrosis.
