Intense physical activity can induce metabolic changes that modify specific biochemical biomarkers. In this scenario, the purpose of our study was to evaluate how intense physical activity can affect oxidative metabolism. Following this, fifteen professional basketball players and fifteen sedentary controls were recruited and subjected to two samplings of serum and urine in the pre-season (September) and two months after the start of the competitive season (November). Our results have shown an increase in athletes compared to controls in CK and LDH in September (respectively, -value 0.003 and -value < 0.001) and in November (both -value < 0.001), whereas ALT is increased only in November (-value 0.09). GGT serum levels were decreased in athletes compared to controls in both months (in September -value 0.001 and in November -value < 0.001). A gene expression analysis, carried out using , has revealed that , , , and are increased in athletes in both months (-value < 0.0001), while and are increased only in September if compared to the controls (respectively, -value 0.040 and -value < 0.001). In conclusion, physical activity creates an adaptation of the systems involved in oxidative metabolism but without causing damage to the liver or kidney. This information could be of help to sports doctors for the prevention of injuries and illnesses in professional athletes for the construction of the athlete's passport.

Objective: This study systematically reviewed the effect of intra-articular injection (IAI) of platelet-rich fibrin (i-PRF), alone or combined with arthrocentesis or arthroscopy, in managing painful articular temporomandibular disorders (TMD) and improving maximum mouth opening (MMO).
Materials And Methods: A systematic literature search was conducted in five databases, identifying randomized and nonrandomized clinical trials focusing on minimally invasive TMJ interventions using i-PRF. Meta-analyses were performed with a random-effects model for studies reporting similar outcomes, visual analog scale (VAS) scores for pain, and MMO values.

Purpose: To determine the real-world incidence and predictive factors for venous and arterial thromboembolic events (VTE/AT) in ovarian cancer patients treated with poly-(ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitors (iPARP).
Methods/patients: A multicenter retrospective study involving 329 ovarian cancer patients who initiated iPARP treatment between January 2015 and December 2022. The primary outcome was the incidence of VTE/AT.

Human intestinal permeability is a key determinant of the oral fraction absorbed () of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). This study evaluated the ability of an in-house canine Mdr1 (cMdr1) knockout (KO) Madin-Darby Canine Kidney (MDCK) cell line to correlate apparent permeability () with human small intestinal permeability (). values of 16 reference compounds with high, medium, or low permeabilities were measured in the in-house cMdr1 KO MDCK protocol under pH gradient (6.
