The observation of traveling breathers (TBs) with large-amplitude oscillatory tails realizes an almost 50-year-old theoretical prediction [E. A. Kuznetsov and A. V. Mikhailov, Stability of stationary waves in nonlinear weakly dispersive media, Zh. Eksp. Teor. Fiz. 67, 1717 (1974) ZETFA70044-4510[E. A. Kuznetsov and A. V. MikhailovSov. Phys. JETP 40, 855 (1975)] SPHJAR0038-5646] and generalizes the notion of a breather. Two strongly nonlinear TB families are created in a core-annular flow by interacting a soliton and a nonlinear periodic (cnoidal) carrier. Bright and dark TBs are observed to move faster or slower, respectively, than the carrier while imparting a phase shift. Agreement with model equations is achieved. Scattering of the TBs is observed to be physically elastic. The observed TBs generalize to many continuum and discrete systems.

Background: Endoscopic vacuum therapy (EVT) has been established as a safe and effective treatment for anastomotic leakage. While rare, major aortic hemorrhage has been reported as a severe complication potentially associated with EVT. However, significant hemorrhages have also been observed in patients with transmural defects in the upper gastrointestinal tract, without the use of EVT.

Background: Dose-driven continuous scanning (DDCS) enhances the efficiency and precision of proton pencil beam delivery by reducing beam pauses inherent in discrete spot scanning (DSS). However, current DDCS optimization studies using traveling salesman problem (TSP) formulations often rely on fixed beam intensity and computationally expensive interpolation for move spot generation, limiting efficiency and methodological robustness.
Purpose: This study introduces a Break Spot-Guided (BSG) method, combined with two acceleration strategies-dose rate skipping and bounding-to optimize beam intensity while minimizing beam delivery time (BDT).

Objective: In patients with severe β-thalassemia, fetal hemoglobin (HbF) upregulation may provide an avenue to better therapeutic outcomes. The mechanisms that regulate the expression of HbF, however, are currently unclear. This study was developed with the goal of exploring biomarkers and molecular mechanisms associated with HbF expression to help inform the development of novel therapeutic strategies.

Introduction: Amivantamab plus lazertinib significantly improved progression-free and overall survival versus osimertinib in patients with previously untreated, EGFR-mutant advanced NSCLC. EGFR-targeted therapies are associated with dermatologic adverse events (AEs), which can affect quality of life (QoL). COCOON was conducted to assess prophylactic management and improve treatment experience.

Purpose: To evaluate tilt, decentration, and axial stability of the Clareon toric intraocular lens (TIOL) (CNW0T3-9; Alcon Laboratories, Inc) over a 6-month follow-up period.
Methods: A single-center, prospective, interventional clinical trial was conducted with a study population of 130 eyes from 82 patients who received a Clareon TIOL. Tilt, decentration, and the aqueous depth were determined preoperatively and at 1 week and 6 months postoperatively using anterior segment optical coherence tomography (Casia 2; Tomey Corporation).
