Article Abstract

Sustainable agriculture aims at achieving a healthy food production while reducing the use of fertilizers and greenhouse gas emissions using biostimulants and soil amendments. Untargeted metabolomics by ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-ion mobility-high-resolution mass spectrometry, operating in a high-definition MS mode, was applied to investigate the metabolome of durum wheat in response to sustainable treatments, i.e., the addition of biochar, commercial plant growth promoting microbes, and their combination. Partial least squares-discriminant analysis provided a good discrimination among treatments with sensitivity, specificity, and a non-error rate close to 1. A total of 88 and 45 discriminant compounds having biological, nutritional, and technological implications were tentatively identified in samples grown in 2020 and 2021. The addition of biochar-biostimulants produced the highest up-regulation of lipids and flavonoids, with the glycolipid desaturation being the most impacted pathway, whereas carbohydrates were mostly down-regulated. The findings achieved suggest the safe use of the combined biochar-biostimulant treatment for sustainable wheat cultivation.

Introduction: This study explores high-impedance surface (HIS) metamaterial shields for enhancing the transmit field in whole-body MRI at 7 T. We studied the possibility of placing a metamaterial layer between the gradient coil and bore liner using electromagnetic simulations to evaluate B and SAR efficiency across different impedances.

Materials And Methods: Simulations were performed in three stages, first metamaterial design and characterization, then single-element dipole simulations with a homogenous phantom, and finally, simulations including a four-element arrays with a virtual body model, including the whole scanner geometry.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Primary dysmenorrhea (PD) is common and has a major impact on women's daily activities and quality of life. Wenjing Decoction (WD), a classic Chinese medicine formula, has been widely used for thousands of years in China to treat PD. However, the key pharmacodynamic substances in WD responsible for its anti-dysmenorrhea efficacy are still unclear.

The derivation of defect-engineered metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) from industrial waste simultaneously mitigates environmental pollution, reduces MOF synthesis costs, and enhances adsorption performance. Herein, this study demonstrates a sustainable strategy for the resourceful synthesis of iron-based MOF s-MIL-100(Fe) using galvanizing pickling waste liquor (80.5 wt.

A key challenge in PET systems is collecting large amount of data with the most accurate information-time, energy, and position-to produce high-resolution images while limiting the number of channels to reduce costs and improve data collection efficiency. The new Ultra-High-performance Brain (UHB) scanner under development aims to tackle this issue, using a semi-monolithic detector that combines pixelated arrays and monolithic designs, along with signal multiplexing techniques. Approach.

Liquid crystal elastomers (LCEs) are important soft actuators that show strong promise in many fields where traditional rigid actuators or robotics are impractical. However, their real-world applications are lacking primarily due to inadequate actuation performance and complicated fabrication processes. Here, a novel design is reported that significantly enhances actuation performance while simplifying the fabrication process.
