Our editorial focused on the concept of "Making the Invisible Visible in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Medicine (STEMM)." We highlight 11 manuscripts submitted to our research topic, which offer unique and innovative, evidence-backed solutions to improve diversity, equity, and inclusion in STEMM. Notably, often racial, and ethnic minority scientists are forgotten and placed in the background even when they make a significant contribution to research. The manuscripts highlighted here begin to undo this and empower by making the invisible visible.

Background: There is evidence that cerebral palsy (CP) could be linked to stigma and discrimination, however current evidence is limited to small qualitative studies. The goal of this co-designed survey was to elicit information on experiences of stigma and discrimination amongst a larger sample of adults in the UK and Ireland.
Methods: Quantitative questions about sources of stigma and qualitative questions designed to elicit information on experiences of stigma were shared via an online survey.

Heart failure is a complex, progressive syndrome with significant impacts on quality of life and daily functioning. This study aimed to understand the self-care experiences of community-dwelling adults with heart failure in Australia while also portraying the context and impact of these experiences on participants. We focused on patients' accounts of self-care, irrespective of their alignment with existing definitions or guidelines.

Contemporary debates about artificial intelligence (AI) still treat automation as a straightforward substitution of human labor by machines. Drawing on Goffman's dramaturgical sociology, this paper reframes AI in the workplace as rather than automation. We argue that the central-but routinely overlooked-terrain of struggle is symbolic-interactional: workers continuously stage, conceal, and re-negotiate what counts as "real" work and professional competence.

Salmonella, mainly associated with raw poultry, remains a major food safety concern as the number of illnesses have not reduced over the past decade warranting a need for convergent, disruptive approaches. In poultry processing plants, the USDA-FSIS implements a "zero visible fecal tolerance" policy on eviscerated broiler carcasses entering the chiller as a step to reduce the pathogen from cross contamination. The efficacy of multispectral fluorescence imaging technology to detect visible and invisible fecal matter from different sections of the gastrointestinal tract was assessed on 404 carcasses to enhance automation in processing plants.
