Rotator cuff tendinopathy is a common cause of shoulder pain and dysfunction, presenting in two primary forms: calcific and non-calcific. These subtypes differ significantly in their pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, and natural history, necessitating tailored diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. This review delineates the clinical presentations of calcific rotator cuff tendinopathy (RCCT), characterized by distinct pre-calcific, calcific, and post-calcific stages, and contrasts them with the more insidious, degenerative course of non-calcific rotator cuff tendinopathy.

Background: Gastric cancer (GC) is a leading cause of cancer-related mortality; however, biomarkers predicting its immunotherapy resistance remain scarce. Vascular cell adhesion molecule ()-, an immune cell adhesion mediator, is implicated in tumor progression; however, its prognostic and immunomodulatory roles in GC remain unclear.
Methods: In this study, we analyzed expression and its clinical relevance in GC using RNA-sequencing data from The Cancer Genome Atlas.

Background: SLC16A3, a highly expressed H + -coupled symporter, facilitates lactate transport via monocarboxylate transporters (MCTs), contributing to acidosis. Although SLC16A3 has been implicated in tumor development, its role in tumor immunity remains unclear.
Methods: A pan-cancer analysis was conducted using datasets from The Cancer Genome Atlas, Cancer Cell Line Encyclopedia, and Genotype-Tissue Expression projects.

Background: Plant roots release root exudates to attract microbes that form root communities, which in turn promote plant health and growth. Root community assembly arises from millions of interactions between microbes and the plant, leading to robust and stable microbial networks. To manage the complexity of natural root microbiomes for research purposes, scientists have developed reductionist approaches using synthetic microbial inocula (SynComs).

Background: The cluster of differentiation 47 (CD47)-signal regulatory protein alpha (SIRPα) axis is a key regulator of innate immune surveillance, facilitating the neoplastic evasion of macrophage-mediated phagocytosis. Although this pathway has been implicated in tumor immune escape in multiple malignancies, its clinical and prognostic significance in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) remain to be fully elucidated.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 100 patients who underwent esophagectomy for resectable ESCC.
