This study aimed to compare the prognosis and characteristics of patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma treated with first-line atezolizumab plus bevacizumab (AB) combination therapy and hepatic artery infusion chemotherapy (HAIC). We retrospectively assessed 193 and 114 patients treated with HAIC and AB combination therapy, respectively, between January 2018 and May 2023. The progression-free survival (PFS) of patients treated with AB combination therapy was significantly superior to that of patients treated with HAIC ( < 0.05), but there was no significant difference in overall survival (OS). After propensity score matching, our data revealed no significant differences in OS and PFS between patients who received AB combination therapy and those who received HAIC therapy ( = 0.5617 and 0.3522, respectively). In conclusion, our propensity score study reveals no significant differences in OS and PFS between patients treated with AB combination therapy and those treated with HAIC.

Purpose Of Review: Sulbactam-durlobactam (SUL-DUR) is a novel β-lactam/β-lactamase inhibitor combination recently approved for carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii (CRAB) infections. This review summarizes current knowledge on the optimal use of SUL-DUR, whether administered alone or in combination with carbapenems, particularly imipenem.
Recent Findings: Data from registrational trial demonstrate that SUL-DUR is an effective and well tolerated treatment option for CRAB severe infections.

Vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) is a promising therapy for neurological and inflammatory disorders across multiple organ systems. However, conventional rigid interfaces fail to accommodate dynamic mechanical environments, leading to mechanical mismatches, tissue irritation, and unstable long-term interfaces. Although soft neural interfaces address these limitations, maintaining mechanical durability and stable electrical performance remains challenging.

Despite significant advancements in the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) using conventional therapeutic methods, drug resistance remains a major factor contributing to disease recurrence. In this study, we aimed to explore the potential benefits of combining PI3K inhibition with Cisplatin in the context of NSCLC-derived A549 cells. Human non-small cell lung cancer A549 cells were cultured and treated with BKM120, cisplatin, or their combination.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disorder characterized by joint inflammation. Given the side effects of conventional treatments, this study focuses on the anti-inflammatory effects of purslane (Portulaca oleracea) and turmeric (Curcuma longa). The research is driven by the growing demand for plant based-treatment for safer therapeutic options for RA management.

Introduction: No head-to-head studies comparing the efficacy of avalglucosidase alfa (AVA) with cipaglucosidase alfa + miglustat (Cipa+mig) have been conducted in patients with late-onset Pompe disease (LOPD). Two indirect treatment comparisons (ITCs) were conducted to estimate the effects of AVA versus Cipa+mig.
Methods: ITCs were conducted using simulated treatment comparisons (STCs), adjusting for differences in prognostic factors and treatment effect modifiers.
