Article Abstract

Aqueous zinc-ion batteries (AZIBs) have attracted considerable attention due to their low cost and environmental friendliness. However, the rampant dendrite growth and severe side reactions during plating/stripping on the surface of zinc (Zn) anode hinder the practicability of AZIBs. Herein, an effective and non-toxic cationic electrolyte additive of Rb SO is proposed to address the issues. The large cation of Rb is preferentially adsorbed on the surface of Zn metal to induce a strong shielding effect for realizing the lateral deposition of Zn ions along the Zn surface and isolating water from Zn metal to effectively inhibit side reactions. Consequently, the Zn||Zn symmetric cell with the addition of 1.5 mm Rb SO can cycle more than 6000 h at 0.5 mA cm /0.25 mAh cm , which is 20 times longer than that without Rb SO . Besides, the Zn||Cu asymmetric cell with Rb SO achieves a very high average Coulombic efficiency of 99.16% up to 500 cycles. Moreover, the electrolyte with Rb SO well matches with the VO cathode, achieving high initial capacity of 412.7 mAh g at 5 A g and excellent cycling stability with a capacity retention of 71.6% at 5 A g after 500 cycles for the Zn//VO full cell.

Black hairy tongue (BHT), or lingua villosa nigra, is a rare adverse effect of linezolid, an antibiotic frequently used in the treatment of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB). We present a case of a 24-year-old female who developed BHT while receiving linezolid as part of a longer regimen for MDR-TB. The patient exhibited a typical BHT presentation, with painless brown-to-black discoloration on the posterior dorsal surface of her tongue, appearing 25 days after initiating linezolid therapy.

Introduction: The inappropriate use of antibiotics in intensive care units poses risks, such as increased infections caused by multidrug-resistant bacteria and adverse reactions. The World Health Organization's strategy, named Access, Watch, and Reserve, aims to mitigate these risks by categorizing antibiotics into these categories.

The palladium-catalyzed Suzuki-Miyaura cross coupling reaction to forge carbon-carbon bonds fundamentally changes the practice of organic synthesis. Herein an isolated palladium catalyst supported on polymeric carbon nitride (Pd/PCN) for efficient cross coupling of bromobenzene and phenylboronic acid at room temperature is reported. It is demonstrated that the Pd/PCN catalyst with a 2 wt% Pd loading achieves the highest mole-specific activity.

Conventional radiotherapy based on X rays is used to treat more than 50% of cancers. Although effective, radiotherapy can damage healthy tissues around the tumor due to the X-ray dose deposition profile, as well as the safety margin needed to compensate for dose uncertainties. A notable side effect is cellular senescence, characterized by the cessation of cell division while maintaining metabolic activity and promoting the secretion of various components, called the senescence-associated secretory phenotype.

Motivated by copper's essential role in biology and its wide range of applications in catalytic and synthetic chemistry, this work aims to understand the effect of heteroatom substitution on the overall stability and reactivity of biomimetic Cu(II)-alkylperoxo complexes. In particular, we designed a series of tetracoordinated ligand frameworks based on iso-BPMEN = (,-bis(2-pyridylmethyl)-','-dimethylethane-1,2-diamine) with varying the primary coordination sphere using different donor atoms (N, O, or S) bound to Cu(II). The copper(II) complexes bearing iso-BPMEN and their modified heteroatom-substituted ligands were synthesized and structurally characterized.
