Article Abstract

The anionic template method is an effective strategy for synthesizing high-nuclearity transition-lanthanide (3d-4f) heterometallic clusters. Herein, two lanthanide clusters with formulas [GdNi(μ-OH)(CO)(IDA)(CHNO)(CO)(MoO)(μ-OH)(HO)]Cl·79HO (1) and [TbNi(μ-OH)(CO)(IDA)(CHNO)(CO)(MoO)(μ-OH)(HO)]Cl·32HO (2) were synthesized by introducing MoO anions as templates. Structural analysis indicates that compounds 1 and 2 are isomorphic, featuring a fascinating triangular-shaped metal framework. Magnetic property investigations illuminate the fact that compound 1 exhibits a large -Δ of 37.83 J kg K at 3 K for Δ = 7 T. In particular, it is worth mentioning that compound 1 has an excellent low-field magnetic entropy (-Δ = 23.85 J kg K at 2 K, 2 T).

By adjusting the solvents, nitrogen-containing auxiliary ligands, and transition metal salts, we successfully constructed 11 new aluminum-transition heterometallic clusters of and . They possess the same metal cores with different terminal-coordinated solvents and nitrogen-containing auxiliary ligands. Given their structural differences, we investigated the variations in the photothermal effects and aldol condensation catalytic reaction.

Key Laboratory of Life-Organic Analysis of Shandong Province, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Qufu Normal University, Qufu 273165, China.

Sodium salicylate (SS) is widely used in medical and food applications closely related to daily life. Accurate detection of SS is crucial for human health and food safety. Herein, two novel Zn(II)-Eu(III) heterometallic coordination polymers (CPs) were synthesized and explored as ratiometric fluorescence sensors for sensing of SS.

The integration of the rich electronic properties of 3d-4f heterometallic clusters with rigid and diamagnetic polyoxometalates is of great interest and is expected to yield novel materials with enhanced properties due to synergistic effects. For the first time, the study succeeds in introducing fluorescent Zn-Ln heterometallic clusters into polyoxoniobates (PONbs), forming a family of rare giant heterometallic PONbs with various architectures, including 78-metal {ZnEuNb}, 112-metal {ZnLnNb} (Ln = La, Y), and 165-metal {NaZnLnNb} (Ln = Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho). These heterometallic PONbs exhibit many appealing structural features and unique building blocks.

Atomically-precise heterometallic nickel-based clusters are an emerging class of functional nanomaterials with intriguing optical and magnetic properties. However, synthetic challenges restrict their exploration in comparison to heterometallic coinage metal-based nanoclusters. This study presents a single-step synthesis of the two new thiolate-bridged copper-nickel cluster compounds [CuNiS(MCP)] (1) and [CuNi(MCP)I] (2) (MCPH = 2-mercaptopyridine; MCP = deprotonated 2-mercaptopyridine) at an elevated temperature.

This work presents a unique example of the self-assembly of {LnF} clusters composed of Ln cations and F and CFCOO anions. The crystal structures of new fluorotrifluoroacetate compounds with the general formula , where A = Na and Ln = Pr(), Eu (IIa), Tb(iii), Dy(iv) and Tm(v); A = Na and HO and Ln = Eu (IIb); or A = K and Ln = Yb(vi); tfa = CFCOO (trifluoroacetate anion); L = Htfa (CFCOOH, trifluoroacetic acid) and HO, determined by the single-crystal XRD method revealed that they were constructed from the complex anion and alkali metal (or alkali metal and hydroxonium) cations and included solvate molecules in some cases. The core of the anion presented a rhombododecahedral unit of six lanthanide atoms linked by bridging fluoride and trifluoroacetate anions.
