Aneuploidy in oocytes is a leading cause of implantation failure, miscarriage and congenital disorders. During meiosis, proper timing of chromosome segregation is regulated by the spindle assembly checkpoint (SAC) and the anaphase-promoting complex/cyclosome (APC/C). However, how pharmacological manipulation of these regulatory pathways affects aneuploidy remains incompletely understood.

Reversine enhances the conversion of dedifferentiated fat cells into mature cardiomyocytes.

Department of Cardiology and Vascular Medicine, Faculty of Medicine Universitas Airlangga, Dr. Soetomo Academic General Hospital, Surabaya, East Java, 60286, Indonesia.

Background: There is an essential need for cardiomyocyte regeneration among patients with heart failure. Transplantation of dedifferentiated fat (DFAT) cells may lead to an improvement of cardiomyocyte regeneration among heart failure patients. We believe that DFAT cells are promising candidate cell sources for cardiac regeneration.

Article Synopsis
  • - Immunotherapy harnesses innate immune sensors like cGAS and STING to fight tumors, and combining these with chemotherapy drugs such as doxorubicin (DOX) and reversine (REV) can enhance anti-tumor effects through the cGAS/STING pathway.
  • - Researchers developed hybrid lipid nanovesicles (LEV@DOX@REV) that effectively deliver these drugs to tumors, utilizing the natural "homing" ability of cell membranes to target cancerous tissues.
  • - Evaluation in tumor models showed that LEV@DOX@REV improved immune cell infiltration, increased pro-inflammatory cytokine secretion, restructured the tumor environment, and ultimately extended survival in tumor-bearing mice, highlighting its potential for cancer immunotherapy

A screening of inhibitors targeting the receptor kinase FERONIA reveals small molecules that enhance plant root immunity.

State Key Laboratory of Chemo/Biosensing and Chemometrics, College of Biology, Hunan University, Changsha, China.

Receptor-like kinases (RLKs) constitute the largest receptor family involved in the regulation of plant immunity and growth, but small-molecule inhibitors that target RLKs to improve agronomic traits remain unexplored. The RLK member FERONIA (FER) negatively regulates plant resistance to certain soil-borne diseases that are difficult to control and cause huge losses in crop yields and economy. Here, we identified 33 highly effective FER kinase inhibitors from 1494 small molecules by monitoring FER autophosphorylation in vitro.
