Kinesin family member 14 (KIF14) has been implicated in the progression of multiple cancer types, yet its role in colorectal cancer (CRC) metastasis remains undefined. Here, we assesse KIF14 expression in CRC specimens and explore its clinical and functional significance. KIF14 upregulation is frequently observed in CRC tissues and is correlated with advanced tumor stage and reduced overall survival.

This study explores the photochemical conversion of BN-Dewar benzene into BN-benzvalene derivatives, offering a strategic route to heteroatom-containing valence isomers with distinctive electronic properties. Using time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT) and electron localization function (ELF) analyses, the excited-state mechanism and associated structural rearrangements were elucidated. Vertical excitation to the S state was found to weaken the CC and B-N bonds while strengthening the N-Si bond in silyl-substituted derivatives, a key factor enabling efficient BN-benzvalene formation.

Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) preferentially localizes in the bone marrow (BM) and displays recurrent patterns of medullary and extra-medullary involvement. Leukemic cells exploit their niche for propagation and survive selective pressure by chemotherapy in the BM microenvironment, suggesting the existence of protective mechanisms. Here, we established a three-dimensional (3D) BM mimic with human mesenchymal stromal cells and endothelial cells that resemble vasculature-like structures to explore the interdependence of leukemic cells with their microenvironment.

Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is an aggressive malignancy with a poor prognosis. Abnormal expression of focal adhesion kinase (FAK) is closely linked to NSCLC progression, highlighting the need for effective FAK inhibitors in NSCLC treatment. In this study we conducted high-throughput virtual screening combined with cellular assays to identify potential FAK inhibitors for NSCLC treatment.
