The lung dose of nebulized drugs for spontaneous breathing is influenced by breathing patterns and nebulizer performance. This study aimed to develop a system for measuring breath patterns and a formula for estimating inhaled drugs, and then to validate the hypothesized prediction formula. An model was first used to determine correlations among the delivered dose, breath patterns, and doses deposited on the accessories and reservoirs testing with a breathing simulator to generate 12 adult breathing patterns ( = 5). A pressure sensor was developed to measure breathing parameters and used along with a prediction formula that accounted for the initial charge dose, respiratory pattern, and dose on the accessory and reservoir of a nebulizer. Three brands of nebulizers were tested by placing salbutamol (5.0 mg/2.5 mL) in the drug holding chamber. Ten healthy individuals participated in the study to validate the prediction formula. The agreement between the predicted and inhaled doses was analyzed using the Bland-Altman plot. The model showed that the inspiratory time to total respiratory cycle time (/; %) was significantly directly correlated with the delivered dose among the respiratory factors, followed by inspiratory flow, respiratory rate, and tidal volume. The model showed that / was significantly directly correlated with the delivered dose among the respiratory factors, in addition to the nebulization time and accessory dose. The Bland-Altman plots for the model showed similar results between the two methods. Large differences in inhaled dose measured at the mouth were observed among the subjects, ranging from 12.68% to 21.68%; however, the difference between the predicted dose and inhaled dose was lower, at 3.98%-5.02%. The inhaled drug dose could be predicted with the hypothesized estimation formula, which was validated by the agreement between the inhaled and predicted doses of breathing patterns of healthy individuals.

Introduction: Medical physicists play a critical role in ensuring image quality and patient safety, but their routine evaluations are limited in scope and frequency compared to the breadth of clinical imaging practices. An electronic radiologist feedback system can augment medical physics oversight for quality improvement. This work presents a novel quality feedback system integrated into the Epic electronic medical record (EMR) at a university hospital system, designed to facilitate feedback from radiologists to medical physicists and technologist leaders.

Background: The potential association between dietary inflammatory index (DII) and colorectal cancer (CRC) risk, as well as colorectal adenomas (CRA) risk, has been extensively studied, but the findings remain inconclusive. We conducted this systematic review and dose-response meta-analysis to investigate the relationship between the DII and CRC and CRA.
Methods: We comprehensively searched the PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science databases for cohort and case-control studies reporting the relationship between DII and CRA, or between DII and CRC, as of 15 July 2025.

Purpose: The development of on-board cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) has led to improved target localization and evaluation of patient anatomical change throughout the course of radiation therapy. HyperSight, a newly developed on-board CBCT platform by Varian, has been shown to improve image quality and HU fidelity relative to conventional CBCT. The purpose of this study is to benchmark the dose calculation accuracy of Varian's HyperSight cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) on the Halcyon platform relative to fan-beam CT-based dose calculations and to perform end-to-end testing of HyperSight CBCT-only based treatment planning.

Background: Alcohol use disorder (AUD) is conceptualized as a dimensional phenomenon in the DSM-5, but electronic health records (EHRs) rely on binary AUD definitions according to the ICD-10. The present study classifies AUD severity levels using EHR data and tests whether increasing AUD severity levels are linked with increased comorbidity.
Methods: Billing data from two German statutory health insurance companies in Hamburg included n = 21,954 adults diagnosed with alcohol-specific conditions between 2017 and 2021.

Background: Avenanthramides (AVAs) and Avenacosides (AVEs) are unique to oats (Avena Sativa) and may serve as biomarkers of oat intake. However, information regarding their validity as food intake biomarkers is missing. We aimed to investigate critical validation parameters such as half-lives, dose-response, matrix effects, relative bioavailability under single dose, and in relation to the abundance of Feacalibacterium prausnitzii, and under repeated dosing, to understand the potential applications of AVAs and AVEs as biomarkers of oat intake.
