The aim of the study was to validate a new method for semiautomatic subtraction of [Tc]Tc-sestamibi and [Tc]NaTcO SPECT 3-dimensional datasets using principal component analysis (PCA) against the results of parathyroid surgery and to compare its performance with an interactive method for visual comparison of images. We also sought to identify factors that affect the accuracy of lesion detection using the two methods. Scintigraphic data from [Tc]Tc-sestamibi and [Tc]NaTcO SPECT were analyzed using semiautomatic subtraction of the 2 registered datasets based on PCA applied to the region of interest including the thyroid and an interactive method for visual comparison of the 2 image datasets.

Developing high-performance wearable flexible sensors that can adapt well to complex environments has become a hotspot. Herein, a polyvinyl alcohol based composite hydrogel sensor with high mechanical strength, desirable frost/swelling resistance, and highly sensitive sensing performance was proposed by a multi-component collaborative design strategy. Meanwhile, an intelligent gesture recognition system was established by combining machine learning algorithm.

Early warning enables precautional control measures of CyanoHABs within water bodies and in water works, and it becomes operational with high frequency in situ data (HFISD) of water quality and forecasting models by machine learning (ML). However, the acceptance of early warning systems by end-users relies significantly on the interpretability and generalizability of underlying models, and their operability.

This article examines the ethical challenges posed by NBIC emerging and converging technologies (na-notechnology, biotechnology, artificial intelligence and information technologies, and cognitive sciences) from the perspective of personalist bioethics. Their biomedical and social applications are described, high-lighting the main values at stake: dignity, life, autonomy, vulnerability, and justice. Finally, guidelines are proposed, inspired by the principles of personalist bioethics: defense of human life, therapeutic totality, responsible freedom, and justice, to ensure that technological development remains at the service of the person and the common good.

Sulfonylureas are effective for NDM caused by KCNJ11 or ABCC8 mutations, which are among the most common genetic causes, therefore they are often given before genetic testing. Unfortunately, in certain ethnicities, this mutation rarely occurs.
