Background: Red blood cell (RBC) transfusion is a common intervention for anemia in preterm infants; however, its association with bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) remains debated. While biological mechanisms suggest potential harm, the clinical impact of transfusion frequency on BPD incidence and severity remains unclear.
Objective: To investigate whether RBC transfusion frequency is independently associated with the risk and severity of BPD in preterm infants born before 32 weeks of gestation.

Cervical cancer remains the leading cause of cancer death among women in sub-Saharan Africa and is more severe in high HIV-burdened countries due to persistent high-risk human papillomavirus (hrHPV). In 2021, the World Health Organization recommended primary hrHPV testing for cervical cancer screening; however, optimal triage strategies following positive hrHPV tests remain unclear. We conducted a prospective cost analysis of triage methods for positive hrHPV results among women living with and without HIV in Gaborone, Botswana.

Background: Carotid web (CaW) is a rare fibromuscular dysplasia lesion at the carotid bifurcation linked to thromboembolic events in young patients. CaW-induced hemodynamic disturbances contribute to thrombosis, but the impact of CaW morphology on long-term thrombotic risk remains unclear.
Method: This study developed three-dimensional numerical models based on patient-specific carotid artery anatomy with CaW angles of 30°, 60°, and 90° (models A, B, and C).

Objective: Bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) associated pulmonary hypertension (BPD-PH) is the most severe endotype of BPD; there is insufficient evidence to support the optimal screening strategy in at-risk infants. We hypothesised that serial echocardiography throughout hospitalisation would improve PH detection with increased negative predictive value (NPV) beyond 36 week's postmenstrual age (PMA).
Study Design: This was a single centre cohort study conducted between 2017 and 2023.

Purpose: Performing a one-stage periarticular osteotomy in conjunction with total knee arthroplasty (TKA) constitutes a technically complex procedure. In such demanding cases, a personalized approach utilizing patient-specific instrumentation (PSI) may serve as an advantageous option to achieve optimal precision in bone cuts, thereby enhancing both clinical and radiological postoperative outcomes.
Methods: We present a case report of a 22-year-old man with multiple epiphyseal dysplasia (MED) resulting in knee osteoarthritis with complex femoral deformity and restricted (passive at 30-120° and active at 80-120°) range of movement (ROM).
