Roman Catholic Religious Affiliation and Reactions to the Initial Stage of the COVID-19 Pandemic in Poland.

The present study examined responses to COVID-19 at the beginning of the pandemic, April 2020, among a representative sample of 880 Poles. Participants described their religious beliefs, their emotional reactions to the pandemic, the changes they had made in their behavior since the onset of the pandemic, and their political orientation (left-right). Roman Catholics felt more threatened by the pandemic than non-believers, and Catholics reacted more strongly to the pandemic than non-believers in terms of feeling scared, paralyzed by fear, panicked, fearful, sad, woebegone, and lost, whereas there were no such differences on other emotional reactions.

If the modern enterprise of aid was a systemic response to 'the social question' (the fallout of capitalist property relations in a class society), it is now faced with 'the post-social question' (the fallout of the social fragmentation brought about by the persistence of these property relations).

While scholars argue that resident participation in disaster recovery policymaking matters, few research teams have captured the composition of disaster recovery committees after shock. This study examines how the composition of disaster recovery committees influenced recovery plans following Hurricane Sandy in 2012. Analyzing all 47 NY Rising Community Reconstruction Program committees, we catalogued professional and demographic traits of members and conducted quantitative text analysis on their recovery plans.

Healthy diets are unaffordable for billions of people worldwide, with food prices rising in high-, middle- and low-income nations in recent times. Despite widespread attention to this issue, recent actions taken to inform policy prioritisation and government responses to high food inflation have not been comprehensively synthesised. Our review summarises (i) innovative efforts to monitor national food and healthy diet price, ii) new policy responses adopted by governments to address food inflation and (iii) future research directions to inform new evidence.
