To resolve the high attenuation issue in terahertz (THz) wave propagation in air, we propose a split ring resonator (SRR) structure, consisting of a subwavelength slit and a circular cavity in the wavelength size, which can support coupling resonant modes and achieve a remarkable omnidirectional electromagnetic signals gain (∼40 dB) at 0.4 THz. Based on the Bruijn method, we also develop and numerically confirm a new analytic approach which successfully predicts the dependence of field enhancement on key geometric parameters of the SRR. Compared to the typical LC resonance, the enhanced field at the coupling resonance exhibits a high-quality waveguide mode in the circular cavity, paving a way for direct detection and transmission of the enhanced THz signals in future communication systems.

Purpose: To predict metastasis-free survival (MFS) for patients with prostate adenocarcinoma (PCa) treated with androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) and external radiotherapy using clinical factors and radiomics extracted from primary tumor and node volumes in pre-treatment PSMA PET/CT scans.
Materials/methods: Our cohort includes 134 PCa patients (nodal involvement in 28 patients). Gross tumor volumes of primary tumor (GTVp) and nodes (GTVn) on CT and PET scans were segmented.

Rabi splitting is a defining signature of strong light-matter interaction, emerging when a two-level system is resonantly driven by an optical field, resulting in a spectral doublet separated by the Rabi energy. In solid-state systems, Rabi splitting occurs at exciton resonances, where it is shaped by many-body interactions intrinsic to the material. Here, we investigate the Rabi splitting dynamics in two paradigmatic two-dimensional semiconductors: a hBN-encapsulated MoSe monolayer and a (Ga,In)As multiple quantum well structure.

In this work, the design and construction of a metamaterial (MTM) absorber to increase solar cell efficiency is proposed. MTM is use as frequency selective surface (FSS) in the infrared band. The design is made up of a split ring resonator (SRR) imprinted on the substrate's top surface, with a copper layer serving as a ground on the back layer of the substrate material.

What is the size limit for global aromaticity? How large can a macrocyclic π-system be and still exhibit an aromatic ring current around its circumference? We address this question by investigating a π-conjugated butadiyne-linked 18-porphyrin nanoring (diameter 8 nm). This nanoring was synthesized by two different strategies: classical template-directed synthesis, using a radial template with 18 pyridyl binding sites, and Vernier templating, using a small hexapyridyl template. Both strategies are effective when the porphyrins have octyloxy side chains, but classical templating is more effective than Vernier templating when the porphyrins have bulky trihexylsilyl substituents.

This study presents a wireless, non-invasive sensing system for monitoring the dielectric permittivity of materials, with a particular focus on applications in cultural heritage conservation. The system integrates a passive split-ring resonator tag, electromagnetically coupled to a compact antipodal Vivaldi antenna, operating in the reactive near-field region. Both numerical simulations and experimental measurements demonstrate that shifts in the antenna's reflection coefficient resonance frequency correlate with variations in the dielectric permittivity of the material under test.
