Article Abstract

Given the potential of microalgae as new aquafeed ingredients, this study focuses on using a blend of microalgae, , , and , as a dietary ingredient for feeding juveniles. The growth performance, carcass composition, tissue fatty acid profile, and intestinal microbiota were evaluated after a 30 day-feeding period. A microalgae-free diet was used as control, and three experimental diets were formulated containing 5%, 15%, and 25% of the microalgae blend (MB-5%, MB-15%, and MB-25%, respectively). After 7, 15, and 30 days of feeding experimental diets, biological samples were taken. Growth performance and nutrient utilization were not significantly modified at the end of the experiment. Microalgae inclusion tended to decrease body lipids and affected the fatty acid profile, especially MB-25 diet increased DHA levels. Diet MB-25 promoted appropriate microbial diversity, favoring the presence of probiotic bacteria, such as , and significantly influencing the fatty acid composition and lipid metabolism in fish. In conclusion, using a short pulse of dietary administration of 25% microalgal blend in modulates the intestinal microbiota and lipid composition while maintaining growth performance.

X-linked hypophosphatemia (XLH) is a rare and progressive disease, due to inactivating mutations in the phosphate-regulating endopeptidase homolog X-linked (PHEX) gene. These pathogenic variants result in elevated circulating levels of fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF23), responsible for the main clinical manifestations of XLH, such as hypophosphatemia, skeletal deformities, and mineralization defects. Soil washing with surfactants is a promising technique for remediating petroleum hydrocarbon-contaminated soils. Purpose: To evaluate the preclinical efficacy and safety of transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) using doxorubicin-loaded biocompatible cellulose nanoparticles in a rabbit VX2 liver tumor model.

Materials And Methods: Following institutional animal care committee approval, 23 rabbits with VX2 liver tumors were randomized into three groups: Group A (n = 9) received doxorubicin-loaded cellulose nanoparticles with ethiodized oil; Group B (n = 9) received doxorubicin with ethiodized oil; and Group C (n = 5) served as untreated controls. Tumor size was monitored via ultrasound for 4 weeks, and serum liver enzymes (aspartate transaminase and alanine transaminase) were measured on days 1, 3, and 7 to assess hepatotoxicity.
