Article Abstract

A growing number of papers on style transfer for texts rely on information decomposition. The performance of the resulting systems is usually assessed empirically in terms of the output quality or requires laborious experiments. This paper suggests a straightforward information theoretical framework to assess the quality of information decomposition for latent representations in the context of style transfer. Experimenting with several state-of-the-art models, we demonstrate that such estimates could be used as a fast and straightforward health check for the models instead of more laborious empirical experiments.

In the United States, in the second half of the nineteenth century, the reforming institutions of the horse-drawn-carriage trade prescribed descriptive geometry to their workshops in order to modernize the drawing process for modern carriages. This injunction, institutionally supported by the builder's national association, professional newspapers, and education, was part of a wider movement to organize production at a time when the carriage trade was booming. In order to facilitate the circulation of theoretical knowledge within workshops that were reluctant to mathematize their environment, two trade journals translated, in the space of a few years, and on three occasions (once by one journal and twice by the other), the same French treatise on descriptive geometry written by a Parisian carriage woodworker.

Near and far transfer effects of working memory training: A preregistered, double-blind, randomized-controlled study.

Acta Psychol (Amst)

September 2025

Department of Psychology, Chung-Shan Medical University, Taichung, Taiwan; Clinical Psychological Room, Chung-Shan Medical University Hospital, Taichung, Taiwan. Electronic address:

Background: Previous research indicates near transfer effects of working memory (WM) training on updating, shifting, and inhibition tasks, although findings vary. Regarding fluid intelligence (Gf), studies yield conflicting results on the far transfer effects of WM training. The current study investigates whether different styles of adaptive visuospatial N-back WM training produce near and far transfer effects and whether individual differences moderate these effects.

Interior design is a complex and creative discipline involving aesthetics, functionality, ergonomics, and materials science. Effective solutions must meet diverse requirements, typically producing multiple deliverables such as renderings and design drawings from various perspectives. Consequently, interior design processes are often inefficient and demand significant creativity.

This study assessed the effects of feeding Saccharomyces cerevisiae fermentation-derived postbiotic (SCFP) on methane production and plasma metabolome of Holstein steers on a finishing diet. Twelve Holstein steers (n = 6 per treatment) were enrolled in a randomized complete block design and blocked into 3 groups based on their initial body weight (BW: 294 ± 12.7 kg).

Background: Final year medical students (FYMS) in Germany transfer theoretical knowledge to clinical practice. However, there is a deficiency in structured guidance and feedback and self-reflective practices are often neglected. This study aims to investigate the impact of three mentoring strategies on cultivating self-reflection and introspection in FYMS and to assess competence during routine activities.
