Generation of a molecular neuroanatomical map of the human prefrontal cortex reveals novel spatial domains and cell-cell interactions relevant for psychiatric disease. The molecular organization of the human neocortex has been historically studied in the context of its histological layers. However, emerging spatial transcriptomic technologies have enabled unbiased identification of transcriptionally-defined spatial domains that move beyond classic cytoarchitecture. Here we used the Visium spatial gene expression platform to generate a data-driven molecular neuroanatomical atlas across the anterior-posterior axis of the human dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC). Integration with paired single nucleus RNA-sequencing data revealed distinct cell type compositions and cell-cell interactions across spatial domains. Using PsychENCODE and publicly available data, we map the enrichment of cell types and genes associated with neuropsychiatric disorders to discrete spatial domains. Finally, we provide resources for the scientific community to explore these integrated spatial and single cell datasets at research.libd.org/spatialDLPFC/.

Contactless human-machine interfaces (C-HMIs) are revolutionizing artificial intelligence (AI)-driven domains, yet face application limitations due to narrow sensing ranges, environmental fragility, and structural rigidity. To address these obstacles, we developed a flexible photonic C-HMI (Flex-PCI) using flexible visible-blind near-infrared organic photodetectors. In addition to its unprecedented performance across key metrics, including broad detection range (0.

Evaluation of tumor infiltrating lymphocytes as recommended by current guidelines is largely based on stromal regions within the tumor. In the context of epithelial malignancies, the epithelial region and the epithelial-stromal interface are not assessed, because of technical difficulties in manually discerning lymphocytes when admixed with epithelial tumor cells. The inability to quantify immune cells in epithelial-associated areas may negatively impact evaluation of patient response to immune checkpoint therapies.

Background: Deformable medical image registration is a critical task in medical imaging-assisted diagnosis and treatment. In recent years, medical image registration methods based on deep learning have made significant success by leveraging prior knowledge, and the registration accuracy and computational efficiency have been greatly improved. Models based on Transformers have achieved better performance than convolutional neural network methods (ConvNet) in image registration.

Adolescence is a period of heightened neuroplasticity and vulnerability to environmental insults, including drug exposure. In this study, we investigated the short- and long-term behavioral effects, as well as the long-term hippocampal effects, of chronic cocaine administration during adolescence, along with the potential neuroprotective role of insulin-like growth factor 2 (IGF2) in male C57BL/6J mice. Over 21 days, mice received daily intraperitoneal injections of saline, cocaine, IGF2, or a combination of cocaine and IGF2.

The myristoylated preS1 domain (myr-preS1) of the hepatitis B virus (HBV) large surface protein is essential for binding to the receptor protein, Na/taurocholate co-transporting polypeptide (NTCP), and for the subsequent internalization of the virus-receptor complex. NTCP, which is expressed in hepatocytes, plays a physiological role in hepatic bile acid transport. Recent cryo-electron microscopy structures of the myr-preS1-NTCP complex were used to analyze virus-receptor interactions at the molecular level.
