This Perspective highlights a malpractice during data processing in static noble gas mass spectrometry, viz. retrodicting the noble gas signals at "time zero" based on the linear fitting results of the time-varying analytical responses. Linear fitting is the most commonly used by noble gas analysts mainly on the consideration of high coefficient of determination (R), while it poses risks of inaccurate estimation of required information. Here, we appeal to re-examining the signal variation mechanisms before deciding the way of fitting instead of merely choosing one with good R. The primary processes during the static mass spectrometry measurement are considered, and a mechanism-based exponential fitting is recommended for the relevant data processing. For the same given data set, exponential fitting is a more robust processing strategy than linear fitting because not only does the former show perfect goodness of fitting but also it contributes to better consistence of retrodicted signals. For the sake of maintaining a high level of data quality in analytical science, we propose to apply the mechanism-based exponential fitting to retrodict the "time zero" signal in static noble gas mass spectrometry, and the commonly used linear fitting should be avoided.

Background Although advances in care have improved cystic fibrosis (CF) outcomes in higher-income countries (HICs), the situation remains alarming in lower-income countries (LICs). Methods People with CF (pwCF) enrolled in the European Cystic Fibrosis Society Patient Registry (ECFSPR) and carrying at least one F508del variant allele were evaluated in 2017 and in 2022 for predicted percent forced expiratory volume (ppFEV1), underweight status, and chronic Pseudomonas aeruginosa (Pa) infection, according to the gross national income (GNI) per capita divided into three terciles (low-income countries, LICs; middle-income countries, MICs; and high-income countries, HICs). Survival was evaluated in the periods 2013-2017 and 2018-2022.

We present the first constraints on primordial magnetic fields from the Lyman-α forest using full cosmological hydrodynamic simulations. At the scales and redshifts probed by the data, the flux power spectrum is extremely sensitive to the extra power induced by primordial magnetic fields in the linear matter power spectrum, at a scale that we parametrize with k_{peak}. We rely on a set of more than a quarter million flux models obtained by varying thermal and reionization histories and cosmological parameters.

Introduction: Physical activity level plays a role in modifying the likelihood of developing Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. However, little is known about how changes in housework affect cognitive function among US adults over the age of 65. This study investigates the correlation between changes in housework frequency and cognitive function over 10 years.

Background: Previous research suggests that sexual minorities are at higher risk for psychotic experiences, possibly due to repeated social defeat experiences. However, empirical research investigating this hypothesis is largely lacking. This study examined how experiences of "feeling excluded" and "not belonging" impact the prospective development of psychotic experiences in an adolescent sexual minority group, defined here as non-heterosexual attraction to others.

Significance: The spatial and temporal distribution of fluorophore fractions in biological and environmental systems contains valuable information about the interactions and dynamics of these systems. To access this information, fluorophore fractions are commonly determined by means of their fluorescence emission spectrum (ES) or lifetime (LT). Combining both dimensions in temporal-spectral multiplexed data enables more accurate fraction determination while requiring advanced and fast analysis methods to handle the increased data complexity and size.
