Background: Ischemic heart failure (IHF) is a multifaceted syndrome associated with significant mortality and high hospitalization rates globally. According to traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) theory, Qi Deficiency and Blood Stasis (QXXY) Syndrome serves as the pathological basis of IHF. This study aims to investigate the biological basis of QXXY syndrome in IHF patients through an integrated multi-omics approach.

Oxidative stress is implicated in the pathogenesis and progression of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA). It is suggested that an excess in reactive oxygen species (ROS) over endogenous antioxidant activities can lead to endothelial and mitochondrial dysfunction, which promotes tissue inflammation, extracellular matrix degradation, and cellular apoptosis, all pathologic features characteristic of AAA. While elevated levels of ROS in human and experimental AAA appear well established, the contribution of endogenous antioxidant systems to aneurysm formation and progression remains controversial.

Antioxidant delivery as a therapeutic for AAA is of substantial interest although clinical translation of antioxidant therapy has met with significant challenges due to limitations in achieving sufficient antioxidant levels at the site of AAA. We posit that nanoparticle-based approaches hold promise to overcome challenges associated with systemic administration of antioxidants.

Tendinopathies are common disabling conditions in equine and human athletes. The etiology is still unclear, although reactive oxygen species (ROS) and oxidative stress (OS) seem to play a crucial role. In addition, OS has been implicated in the failure of tendon lesion repair.
