Evidence theory by Dempster-Shafer for determination of hormone receptor status in breast cancer samples was introduced in our previous paper. One major topic pointed out here is the link between pieces of evidence found from different origins. In this paper the challenge of selecting appropriate ways of fusing evidence, depending on the type and quality of data involved is addressed. A parameterized family of evidence combination rules, covering the full range of potential needs, from emphasizing discrepancies in the measurements to aspiring accordance, is covered. The consequences for real patient samples are shown by modeling different decision strategies.

Background: Poststroke cognitive impairment (PSCI) affects 30% to 50% of stroke survivors, severely impacting functional outcomes and quality of life. This study uses functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) to assess task-evoked brain activation and its potential for stratifying the severity in patients with PSCI.

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) impairs attention and executive function, often through disrupted coordination between cognitive and autonomic systems. While electroencephalography (EEG) and pupillometry are widely used to assess neural and autonomic responses independently, little is known about how these systems interact in TBI. Objective: To investigate the prevalence of dry eye disease (DED) among children and adolescents aged 9 to 19 years in Fengyang County, and to explore the associations of sleep duration and social jetlag with DED, with the aim of providing scientific evidence for sleep-based interventions to prevent DED in this population.
Methods: Between November and December 2023, 14 primary and secondary schools were randomly selected in Fengyang County, Chuzhou City, Anhui Province, China. Students from Grade 4 to Grade 12 (aged 9-19 years) were invited to participate.
