Background And Importance: In the Czech Republic, paramedics are required to consult a physician before administering intravenous opioids, which may delay effective prehospital pain management. As paramedic competencies expand in Europe, it is important to evaluate the safety and efficacy of independent opioid administration in prehospital emergency care settings.
Objectives: To assess the safety and effectiveness of intravenous sufentanil administered independently by trained paramedics compared to administration following remote physician consultation in adult trauma patients.
Introduction: Distraction methods such as virtual reality and cold vibration devices (Buzzy) are recommended during vascular access. Few studies focused on distraction during intramuscular injection.
Methods: This study evaluated the effect of distraction methods on procedure-related pain, fear, and anxiety during the intramuscular injection in children aged 5 to 12 years in the pediatric emergency department.

The exceptional performance of ceria (CeO) in catalysis and energy conversion is fundamentally governed by its defect chemistry, particularly oxygen vacancies. The formation of each oxygen vacancy (V) is assumed to be compensated by two localized electrons on cations (Ce). Here, we show by combining theory with experiment that while this 1 V: 2Ce ratio accounts for the global charge compensation, it does not apply at the local scale, particularly in nanoparticles.

Cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) in heart failure (HF) declines with age. Interleukin-1 (IL-1) is a pro-inflammatory cytokine involved in aging and HF. We aimed to determine the changes in CRF before and after treatment with anakinra, recombinant IL-1 receptor antagonist, in patients with HF stratified according to age below and above 60 years in phase II clinical trials.

Acute extremity compartment syndrome (CS) is a serious medical complication triggered by factors such as trauma, vascular injury, or prolonged compression, resulting in elevated intracompartmental pressure (ICP) and tissue ischemia. Diagnosis remains challenging, mainly relying on the subjective evaluation of clinical symptoms. Different animal models have been used to study pathophysiology and evaluate diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.
