Article Abstract

We conducted a prospective pilot study evaluating the feasibility of same day MRI-only simulation and treatment with MRI-guided adaptive palliative radiotherapy (MAP-RT) for urgent palliative indications (NCT#03824366). All (16/16) patients were able to complete 99% of their first on-table attempted fractions, and no grades 3-5 toxicities occurred.

A ketogenic diet (KD) has shown promise as an adjunctive therapy for neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders, including bipolar disorder and major depressive disorder (MDD). We examined tolerance for a KD in young adults with MDD and assessed symptoms of depression and metabolic health. Students (n = 24) with a confirmed diagnosis of MDD at baseline receiving standard of care counseling and/or medication treatment were enrolled in a 10-12 week KD intervention that included partial provision of ketogenic-appropriate food items, frequent dietary counseling, and daily morning tracking of capillary R-beta-hydroxybutyrate (R-BHB).

Introduction: anatomical deformities such as developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) and Perthes disease represent a challenge for reconstruction. The use of 3D-printed models can be helpful for assessing the deformity, bone mass, implant size, and orientation.

Objectives: to prospectively evaluate the outcomes of 3D simulation in primary total hip arthroplasty.

Congenital hearing loss is a significant health problem, with a worldwide incidence of >6 per 1000 live births. Late diagnosis will delay appropriate treatment, leading to potential neurodevelopment problems. Early diagnosis requires neonatal hearing screening, where one of the most used techniques is automated Auditory Brainstem Responses (aABR).

Introduction: Pilots have an increased incidence of cutaneous melanoma compared to the general population; occupational exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation is one of several potential risk factors. Cockpit windshields effectively block UVB (280-315 nm) but further analysis is needed for UVA (315-400 nm). The objective of this observational study was to assess transmission of UVA through cockpit windshields and to measure doses of UVA at pilots' skin under daytime flying conditions.
