Cu-Cu Cu(II)-oxo-carboxylate clusters are reported, including those with condensed 1.5 nm Cu-O cores supported exclusively by O-donor ligands. A size-colour correlation is observed due to a red-shift of the charge transfer absorption band on increasing size; hence these clusters sit between small molecules and (black) CuO nanostructures.

Precious metal nanomaterials have demonstrated significant advantages in the field of alcohol electro-catalytic oxidation. In this study, the inexpensive main group metals lead (Pb) and platinum (Pt) have been innovatively selected to construct an alloy catalyst. By employing the solvent-thermal method, PtPb nanoparticles with a well-defined crystalline structure were successfully synthesized, exhibiting excellent performance.

Carbon-based quantum dots (CQDs) have been around for a few decades. Low cell toxicity, good water solubility, excellent and tunable fluorescence properties, and the ability to dope and modify the surface of these CQDs make them an incredible choice for the visualization and treatment of various cancers. This perspective analyzes some recent progress on size-color correlation, modification, and cancer treatment applications of CQDs.

The construction of C─N bonds from simple precursors under ambient conditions is a fundamental challenge in green chemistry, especially when it comes to avoiding energy-intensive protocols. Here, we present a continuous flow photocatalytic platform that enables the efficient coupling of C─N bonds between methanol and ammonia at ambient temperature and pressure. By synergistically engineering a Pd clusters-decorated TiO photocatalyst (1Pd/TiO) and a mass transfer-enhanced gas-liquid-solid Taylor flow reactor, the system achieves a remarkable formamide productivity of 256.

Dynamic micro/nano-structured surfaces play pivotal roles in biological systems and engineering applications. Despite considerable progress has been made in fabricating precisely ordered architectures, achieving controlled motion in top-down fabricated structures remain a formidable challenge. Here, we introduce an advanced dynamic micron-nano optical platform featuring hierarchical microscale wrinkles integrated with ordered nanoscale arrays.
