Extensive surgical spinopelvic fusion for patients with adult spinal deformity (ASD) to achieve optimal radiological parameters should be avoided. The aim of this study was to review clinical and imaging findings in patients with ASD with postural and radiological abnormalities who underwent a novel three-level limited lumbar fusion as two-stage surgery in an attempt to propose a better tolerated alternative to spinopelvic long fusion to the pelvis. The subjects were 26 patients with a minimum follow-up period of 2 years. Cobb angle, C7 sagittal vertical axis, and pelvic incidence (PI) minus lumbar lordosis (LL) were significantly improved after surgery and maintained at follow-up. Most radiological parameters were corrected with lateral interbody fusion (LIF) as the initial surgery, and few with posterior fusion. PI-LL remained high after limited lumbar fusion, but scores on patient-based questionnaires and sagittal and coronal tilt in gait analysis improved. In cases with postoperative progression of proximal junctional kyphosis (11.5%), residual L1-L2 local kyphosis after LIF was the most significant radiological feature. In some cases of ASD with postural abnormalities, short limited lumbar fusion gives sufficient postoperative clinical improvement with preservation of spinal mobility and activities of daily living. The range of fixation should be determined based on radiological parameters after LIF to avoid postoperative complications.

Background: During pregnancy, significant physiological, morphological, and hormonal changes profoundly affect women's biomechanics, increasing the risk of falls and musculoskeletal complaints, especially in the third trimester. To understand movement adaptations and musculoskeletal disorders in pregnant women, kinetic analysis using pregnant-specific multi-segment or musculoskeletal models is essential. This review aims to evaluate the development, applications and limitations of such models intended for kinetic analysis in pregnancy.

Purpose: This study aims to address the limitations of radiographic imaging and single-task learning models in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis assessment by developing a noninvasive, radiation-free diagnostic framework.
Methods: A multi-task deep learning model was trained using structured back surface data acquired via fringe projection three-dimensional imaging. The model was designed to simultaneously predict the Cobb angle, curve type (thoracic, lumbar, mixed, none), and curve direction (left, right, none) by learning shared morphological features.

Understanding spine biomechanics is essential for maintaining posture under static and dynamic conditions, relying on a balance of muscular and gravitational forces. Computational musculoskeletal (MSK) models are increasingly being used in biomechanical research as non-invasive alternatives to in vivo and in vitro methods. Two main MSK modeling strategies are multibody (MB) models, which simplify the spine using rigid vertebrae and intervertebral joints to study muscle recruitment, and finite element (FE) models, which provide detailed tissue representation but often rely on oversimplified loading conditions.
