This study aims to make clear of grassland coverage change and quantitative assessment its effect factors. We collected the data from the National Bureau of Statistics ( http://www.stats.gov.cn ) and "China 20th Century Land Use/Cover Change (LUCC) Spatio-temporal Platform". Grassland coverage area showed an upward trend from 1980 to 1990, and the grassland coverage area is gradually decreasing from 1990 to 2000, and the grassland coverage area has not changed much from 2000 to 2018. The medium-coverage grassland area has the highest correlation with the total population, and the high-coverage grassland area has the lowest correlation with the total population. Land use types and the composite of gross agricultural output have influence on grassland coverage area. It is hoped that relevant policies should consider land use types and ecological benefits while balancing economic development and urban development.

Land-use change and intensification are major drivers of biodiversity loss, yet their effects on diversity have usually been studied within a single habitat type or land-use category, limiting our understanding of cross-habitat patterns. Moths, a species-rich taxon worldwide, represent a significant portion of the biodiversity in both temperate forests and grasslands, functioning as pollinators and herbivores. While increasing land-use intensity (LUI) in both habitats is expected to negatively impact moth assemblages, the strength of this effect remains uncertain.

Habitat fragmentation and the disruption of connectivity caused by roads are major concerns for the conservation of large carnivores as apex predator. The central arid plains of Iran support a variety of carnivore species, which their populations have sharply decreased because of habitat destruction, deterioration, and fragmentation. This study was conducted in the three conservation areas (CAs) and surrounded landscapes in central plains of Iran, focusing on two large carnivores: the grey wolf and the Persian leopard.

Excess nutrients in aquatic systems can cause hypoxia, eutrophication, and algal blooms resulting in substantial modification and losses of ecosystem services. Given limited resources, approaches are needed to address water quality issues efficiently and effectively. Prioritized conservation efforts aim to concentrate resources on areas with the greatest impact and have been shown to be effective in mitigating agricultural non-point source nutrients reaching receiving waters.
