Background: The hemoglobin, albumin, lymphocyte, and platelet (HALP) score represents a meaningful predictor in many cardiovascular diseases. However, the predictive utility of this score for the outcome of patients admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) due to acute myocardial infarction (AMI) has yet to be fully elucidated.
Methods: Information from the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care (MIMIC)-IV v3.

Contralateral breast (CB) cancer is the most common subsequent cancer among breast cancer survivors, and radiotherapy has been linked to CB cancer risk. The purpose of this work was to evaluate doses to subregions of the contralateral breast from historical breast cancer treatments carried out in the United States between 1990 and 2012. We extracted treatment data from radiation therapy summaries for 2,442 radiotherapy patients during that period.

Background: Glutamine is an important metabolic substrate in many aggressive tumors, with comparable importance to glucose metabolism. Utilizing human breast cancer mouse xenograft models, we studied the kinetics of the PET imaging agent, L-5-[C]-glutamine ([C]glutamine or [C]GLN) a biochemical authentic substrate for glutamine metabolism, to further characterize the metabolism of glutamine and downstream labeled metabolites. Studies were performed with and without inhibition of the enzyme, glutaminase (GLS), the first step in glutamine catabolism that generates glutamate, and key target for therapy directed to glutamine-metabolizing cancers.

Stakeholders in the breast implant industry in Korea have recently experienced a crisis from breast implant-associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma and the first Korean case of a medical device fraud. We compared the short-term safety between the microtextured devices that are commercially available after the occurrence of breast implant crisis in Korea. The current study was conducted in a cohort of Korean women who had received an implant-based augmentation mammaplasty for aesthetic purposes between November 14, 2020 and October 13, 2022.
