Significance: Intracranial pressure (ICP) measurements are important for patient treatment but are invasive and prone to complications. Noninvasive ICP monitoring methods exist, but they suffer from poor accuracy, lack of generalizability, or high cost.
Aim: We previously showed that cerebral blood flow (CBF) cardiac waveforms measured with diffuse correlation spectroscopy can be used for noninvasive ICP monitoring. Here we extend the approach to cardiac waveforms measured with near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS).
Approach: Changes in hemoglobin concentrations were measured in eight nonhuman primates, in addition to invasive ICP, arterial blood pressure, and CBF changes. Features of average cardiac waveforms in hemoglobin and CBF signals were used to train a random forest (RF) regressor.
Results: The RF regressor achieves a cross-validated ICP estimation of , mean squared error (MSE), and 95% confidence interval (CI) of on oxyhemoglobin concentration changes; , MSE, and 95% CI of on total hemoglobin concentration changes; and , MSE, and 95% CI of on CBF changes.
Conclusions: This study provides a proof of concept for the use of NIRS in noninvasive ICP estimation.

Background: This study aimed to investigate the utility of shear wave elastography (SWE) as a noninvasive diagnostic tool for assessing anterior compartment intracompartmental pressure (ICP) in patients with tibial plateau fractures, facilitating early detection of high compartment pressure (HCP) to mitigate acute compartment syndrome (ACS) risks.
Methods: In this cross-sectional study conducted from January 2024 to March 2025 at a tertiary hospital in China, 170 patients aged 18-65 years with tibial plateau fractures diagnosed within 48 h were enrolled. Demographic data, injury mechanisms, Schatzker classification, and laboratory parameters were collected.

Background: To develop and validate a multimodal transorbital ultrasound model for noninvasive detection of increased intracranial pressure (IICP) by integrating anatomical and hemodynamic parameters.
Methods: In this prospective diagnostic study, 136 neurology patients scheduled for lumbar puncture underwent pre-procedural ultrasound measurement of optic nerve sheath diameter (ONSD), ONSD-to-eyeball transverse diameter ratio (ONSD/ETD), and central retinal artery hemodynamics (peak systolic velocity [PSV], resistance index [RI]). Patients were classified as IICP (CSF pressure > 200 mmH₂O) or normal ICP (NICP) groups.

Management of intracranial hypertension (IH) has improved in the last decades driven by advancements in monitoring technologies and a deeper understanding of its pathophysiology. Although intracranial pressure (ICP) catheters are still recommended by current guidelines for monitoring patients at risk of IH, these methods are not without limitations. Challenges include procedural complications, availability of these devices in many healthcare settings and technical issues.
