Article Abstract

6 French percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), has become widely adopted. We describe a case of successful 8 French transradial access (TRA) coronary intervention using state of the art hemostasis technique with preservation of radial patency after the procedure.

Aims: Left atrial appendage (LAA) patency after percutaneous closure is associated with higher thromboembolic risk, especially when detected at later time points after procedure. We aim to investigate the incidence and predictors of persistent LAA patency and its different subtypes at cardiac computed tomography angiography (CCTA) during the first year after LAA closure (LAAC).

Methods: In the SWISS APERO trial, patients undergoing LAAC were randomly assigned (1:1) to Amulet or Watchman/FLX across 8 European centers and received CCTA follow-up at 45 days and 13 months.

Background: The efficacy of revascularization for hemodynamic ischemia in the anterior cerebral artery (ACA) territory, despite being part of the same internal carotid artery system as the middle cerebral artery territory, has not been thoroughly discussed. For patients with ACA ischemia, we perform revascularization using a superficial temporal artery (STA)-radial artery graft (RAG)-A3 bypass. Herein, we share our experience with this procedure.

Cardiovascular diseases remain the leading cause of mortality worldwide, primarily resulting from the narrowing or blockage of blood vessels. Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) is a common surgical intervention that restores blood flow to the heart by using alternative vessels as grafts. Although saphenous vein grafts (SVGs) are frequently utilized in these procedures, they are prone to re-occlusion within 10 years, largely due to intimal hyperplasia and the development of atherosclerosis.

Transradial access (TRA) has emerged as the preferred vascular access route for coronary angiography and percutaneous coronary interventions due to its superior safety profile compared to transfemoral access. However, its widespread adoption raises concerns regarding structural alterations in the radial artery, which may impact long-term vascular health and future procedural feasibility. TRA is associated with histopathologic changes in the arterial wall, such as intimal injury and hyperplasia, medial remodeling and adventitial inflammation, collectively contributing to radial artery remodeling.
